He didn't need a wild card from the ATF: he was a direct acceptance to the main draw:

Re: Asia-Pacific Australian Open Wildcard Playoff

Unexpected one-sided scorelines in both semifinals. I'll be happy whoever wins the final now. The veteran Udomchoke against the youngster Wu, interesting match

Honestly I would've prefered to see Lu/Danai in the AO doubles draw, after they won the Bangkok title recently, but congrats to Jimmy & Danai anyway Jimmy probably wanted that win badly after his defeat in the singles semifinals.

Re: Asia-Pacific Australian Open Wildcard Playoff

Main Draw - 2nd Round
Yuichi Sugita (JPN) [1] d Zhe Li (CHN) [WC] 63 ret.
Di Wu (CHN) d Ze Zhang (CHN) [4, WC] 76(5) 62
Danai Udomchoke (THA) [3] d Vishnu Vardhan (IND) [WC] w.o.
Jimmy Wang (TPE) [2] d Yuki Bhambri (IND) [WC] 62 63

Main Draw - 3rd Round
Yuichi Sugita (JPN) [1] vs Di Wu (CHN)
Danai Udomchoke (THA) [3] vs Jimmy Wang (TPE) [2]

=====

So it's the four Direct Acceptances who make it to the Final Four. (Ze Zhang was a wildcard but got a seeding here after his performance in Beijing.)

Men's Doubles Final Qualifying Round
Danai Udmchoke (THA) / Jimmy Wang (TPE) [4] vs Hsin-Han Lee / Hsien Yin Peng (TPE) [2]

Either way, good result for TPE for Men's Doubles...

Re: Asia-Pacific Australian Open Wildcard Playoff

Some of my fave players here. Hope either one of Sugita, Moriya, Zhang, Wu, Udomchoke or Wang will win this playoff and get the AO WC!

Also, let's not forget about the doubles draw http://www.tennis.com.au/wp-content/...12/10/MMDD.pdf
