Agreed, bit of a disappointing loss even if he has played a lot of tennis lately. Still, now at 60 and not that many points to defend over the next few months, I think he can definitely get there. Staying there will depend on continuing to improve - and he does seem to be on an upward curve.

Perhaps - but he's played a lot of tennis in the last few weeks, including a very long match in the first round. It's understandable that John might be starting to feel the pinch a little, fatigue-wise.

Still, onwards to Delray Beach and another chance to get some rankings points before the 55 from Kyoto last year drop off.

The Mailman fails to deliver. A poor first set sees Benjamin Becker take the advantage, breaking Millman twice for a 6-2 score, then the traded breaks in the second set, with Becker just edging out John 8-6 in the breaker.
A tough loss, and perhaps a lost opportunity for the Milkman.

Step one: Beat Austin Krajicek (ATP95) - Tick, done in three sets 63 67(3) 75.

Nice going Milkman, keep on milking.

34 year old German Benjamin Becker (ATP107) or 18 year old USA WC Tommy Paul (ATP251) next - old or young, both winnable for a confident Mailman

Has a major claim on a DC selection now - with Groth losing (again). Would love to see him rewarded for his steady gains and hard work.

Keep on climbing John, have a great year playing as many ATP's as you can.
Certainly nice to see persistence in the face of adversity and hard work rewarded.

And it would be a delicious irony if he made it to top 50, especially if he made it before some of the other Australian aspirants.

Currently on 746 points; target is 842 which is surely achievable. Has Kyoto points to defend at end of month then nothing until May.

In theory could even do it at Memphis, but would have to reach the final, so a longshot.

Even one round win at Memphis though should be enough to take him to 59 and better Ebden's career best ranking of 61...
