No he's not, Cilic is, Milos has made only 1 clay final in his career, and guess who he lost to, Cilic.

Re: Davis Cup

A tough looking draw, but also doable, who knows what the teams will be for the tie, we can only speculate now, until we actually see the teams named and the surface we can't really make any sort of assessment's of the tie, other than it looks to be a tough one right now, assuming all the best players play of course. However I will say if Felix does end up on the team, that he can beat Coric.

Re: Davis Cup

Why does the ITF advertise that Belgium would get choice of ground when they did not.

Not sure the odds of Karlovic showing up are too great, he's played 1 tie since 2012 and that was last years final. It'll be Cilic and Coric more than likely, but even Cilic hasn't showed up everytime, this past years round 1 for example.

I expect they'll pick clay to play on if they can get a clay surface in February. I presume they would lay one indoors like has been done in the past by some teams. Their last 3 homes ties have been on hard but against Spain, Argentina and France which are great clay teams. France is good on both. When they played USA and Great Britain at home last they went on clay. Granted not in February. Their last February/March home clay tie was in 1994. If they can play on clay they should against a Raonic, Denis and Vasek team.

Assuming they do Cilic/Raonic is a toss up, Doubles may be a toss up, Denis/Coric could be a toss up depending on how Denis plays on clay. His run on clay in challengers this past year was quite subpar. Cilic should beat Denis, Raonic should beat Coric. If someone doesn't show then all bets are off. Felix playing #2 instead of Denis would be interesting if it were on clay, but I'd have to see a lot of progression in the next half year from Felix first IMO, even if he's better on clay he's not at this level yet. I think if everyone shows up it could be a very 50/50 tie.

The round 2 draw was also very good for us. Swiss is Fed/Stan doesn't show or Kazakhstan. Another draw of lots on both, anyone know who won that? It's the 1 draw for both, so we're either guaranteed home against both or away.
Round 2 could be difficult, Kazakhstan are very tough, I assume they will beat the Swiss since they are playing at home and Rog and Stan are unlikely to play. If Canada can get through Croatia, which will be tough, the Kazak's waiting is not good, esp. if the tie is away again for Canada, even home won't be so good, but the main thing is to get out of R1, so no more WG playoffs.

If Canada plays either the Swiss or Kazkh, the choice of ground will be decided by lot, you can see here: https://www.daviscup.com/cup/data/dc/cog/2018_wg.pdf

Fact the tie is in February as well limits options on where to play, leveling the playing field a bit more for us I hope.
They still will do indoor clay then.

I'm really hoping he'll show given how close the tie is to Montenegro

Re: Davis Cup

Couldn't find the picture of the draw with lots stars in them to show who had them in future round but found it in the video of the draw. We are home in round 2 if we beat Croatia. We are also home in round 3 via drawing of lots against USA or Hungary, or the fact we last played Serbia in Serbia, and Belgium in Belgium. We lose the drawing of lots for the final so the only home draws would be France or the Netherlands given we played them away last time.

Not a great draw. They have Cilic and not much else but it's away. Hopefully our team will be fully healthy.
I wouldn't call Coric "not much else"

The fact Nestor and especially Raonic have roots near Croatia may influence them positively to play - I hope so.

Brad1973 Croatia will want a good run in 2018 after having lost in the first round in 2017. Cilic seems pretty motivated to play Davis Cup; he just won three live matches against Columbia. I was expecting more from Coric, especially after he beat Sock in Davis Cup in 2016. He and Denis may be better in five months than they are now. Karlovic is on the decline; i expect Coric to be the second singles player. Canada has a strong team if Raonic shows up and plays well.

It would be nice to see everyone get behind Nestor in his last season.

It would be but I also think if we send Raonic, Shapovalov, Pospisil and Nestor we have a chance. As long as we win the doubles I think both Raonic and Shapovalov could beat Coric/Karlovic. Cilic would be a toss up for Raonic.

It's not easy, but if Cilic doesn't go our chances go up. But you of course they are no slouch as the went to the finals last year and were a set away from winning it all.
