Jimnik you have any background in Mile highness ?

Also another update. Apparently official construction of recreational shops will happen January 1st. So the start of the New Year.

Also the heavy tax on Marijuana passed. Which is great because this means by the end of 2014 around $40million is coming to our schools!!!

Otherwise this should be great for Colorado. More money for education and presumably health care also.

not to mention the health benefits, which will help cancers, leukemia, etc. This also opens the door for hemp, cannabinoid oils, etc. to be used medically. Such an untapped business, surely the rest of the country and world will follow suit soon enough.
Or maybe more Dominoes and Video games .

I do agree though. I think it will at least spread to California as recreational. I know a lot of other states are attempting to pass medical marijuana laws atm. I highly doubt any of them will get turned down, except for the most conservative areas.

JG not to delve but you ever partaken

Uhhh bump.

So apparently come March, actual retail stores will open up. Meaning anyone over 21 can purchase and consume weed. This brings up an interesting dilemma...driving. What are going to be the legal limits for "high drivers"? It is hard to judge.

Also the first $40 million made will go to public schools, which is badly needed. Plus the taxing on it should bring in good revenue for Colorado.

Thoughts on this? The implications, money making, issues with driving, etc???

People who drink alcohol and smoke tobaco really have no right to decide for others how they may or may not ruin their life.

Only those lunatic puritan non-drinkers and non-smokers are allowed to tell others they are not to ruin their lifes by living. Not really, they should however question why they need to pay for drug users/drinkers/smokers welfare when things go bad through their taxes, this is why social and economic libertarianism goes so good hand in hand, everyone is responsible for their own lives and thereby are allowed to do whatever they want to (with themselves).

Well, I am going to visit Colorado when I visit US next time, hope they got some of the good stuff from California in the free market by then.

Cool. Colorado seems like a nice place in parts. I expected it to be more right wing due to it's geographic location - clearly not.

It's too sweeping to say marijuana isn't addictive. Some people become dependent on marijuana. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/...uana-addictive

It's like people saying meth isn't addictive. Well, it isn't in the classic sense, but most people form a dependence.

Thankfully one is less likely to form a dependence on marijuana and it is far less harmful to the body than meth.

Jverweii I agree. Someone drinks 10 shots of tequila, goes out driving, causes accident. Man drinks heavily abuses wife.

Smokes 10 bowls of weed, eats food, falls asleep. Drives, while under the influence, goes to McDonalds. Or never makes it out of drive way.

Yeah I agree, self control is the golden rule. Plus weed doesn't really damage anyone as far as I know.
I agree that alcohol and prescription pill abuse is the biggest drug issue in the U.S.

Your story is cute, but it doesn't comport with reality. People who are intoxicated from marijuana also cause traffic accidents. They are fewer because fewer people ingest marijuana than alcohol.
