Actually, LA, like most big cities, has plenty of attractive and safe areas throughout. But the worst elements usually upstage. Cleveland has nice areas, but much of the city looks like it got hit by a nuclear attack. Love to see a politician one day talk about rebuilding the cities before of this other spending.

That's how LA has always been TBH. It's called a concrete jungle for a reason. There are plenty of beautiful places in California, but it isn't one of them.

San Francisco is California. Oh, and WEHO. But LA is alright too. Only the strong and fabulous survive, so people of lesser quality won't like it.

Why would anyone want to do business in a state that elects someone like Jerry Brown to public office?

Better than Sotomayor or better than John Paul Jones?

Let's see an anti-military, anti-gun, far-leftist radical feminazi activist judge.

Although, I'll say she was better than the one before her. If that's any praise at all. At least she was smart enough not to call herself an activist judge.

What is wrong with Kagan?

I certainly hope he chooses better than he did with his last pick.

I find the Supreme Court as loathsome as Congress though. Especially the way they have handled the death penalty cases. They accept a last minute appeal in a case where nothing that changed since they heard it in court and then take hours and hours to finally deny it. Again, nothing that changed. My stomach turned with how thoughtless and arrogant they have behaved.

Re: USA politics thread.

I'm more interested in the appointments Obama will have to make to the US Supreme Court. Justice Ruth Ginsburg is 79 and has sadly been reported to be suffering from a terminal illness. But she is a liberal, so her replacement will not cause any net change in the ideological balance of the court, now on paper 5-4 for republican-appointed justices.

Justice Scalia, appointed by Reagan and one of the hardline conservatives, is 76. Justice Kennedy, also appointed by Reagan but considered a moderate and very often the swing vote in tight decisions, is just months younger than Scalia.

Then you have Stephen Breyer, a progressive appointed by Clinton, who is 74 himself.

Considering US Supreme Court justices are appointed for life and seeing the decision power the court has, I'd say their appointments are of crucial importance.

But tell me this anyone. How does a man get elected to Congress that doesn't campaign, has mental problems, and has admitted to corruption and is in the middle of a plea bargain with police? Hard one.

In other news, if Obama nominates Susan Rice, he can totally forget about any bipartisanship, I hope he's not that stupid.

And people who post those huge pictures that screw up the page are complete pricks. Link or small pic.
