Re: The Mighty MM

Marinko did make some good progress at the end of last year with a couple of top 100 wins. But from 18 months playing on the Challenger circuit and never to make a final, maybe 1 semi, is very deflating for someone of his experience and ability. He always looked so frustrated when I got to see his streamed matches, inconsistent and lacking the fire which took him into the top 40. AO playoff R1 loss, Happy Valley Challenger qualies loss, AO qualies R1 loss, I just have a bad feeling he won't come back from this now. Why would he pursue another year on the Challenger circuit and remain 220-250 ranked? Sad, as he is legend.

Retired quietly after the AO?

Re: The Mighty MM

Well, I have to give Mad Dog the benefit of the doubt for this one - Nanchang isn't exactly near the coast, and finding a flight to Taiwan at the very last minute would not have been easy; so he probably missed the sign in deadline.

For all that, Marinko has been rolling along nicely in Challengers of late and the SF effort returns him to the Top 250. A few more results like that and he'll be well in the frame for the AO playoff and indeed qualies there.

Re: The Mighty MM

Marinko again made another SF this year at the 75k at Nanching so a good 35 points....

But then in Quallies at the 100K( big points) he did a no show apparently so his opponent got a WO into Q2

Re: The Mighty MM

Marinko gets another win over #520 Zhang CHN - 6/4 6/2. Plays #91 Jordan Thompson next.

I am going to root for Marinko here, as he needs the win more. Now or never for Marinko. SF last week was pleasing, and he needs to back it up and continue some form through the rest of the year.

Aussie Summer in January may be his last roll of the dice.

I think it would be sad if Marinko retires as he is a great character. Someone who has made the top 40 in singles previously deserves our respect and I will support him until the end.

Re: The Mighty MM

If there was ever a time for Marinko to get back its now!, his sitting at around 300, has 5 points to defend till the end of the year, his playing the 4 week asian swing so far.... so we will see what happens

He has fellow aussie Brad Mousley as for his R1 at the 50K bangkok challenger
