Re: Week 43 : Seoul (Entry List)

Rendy won 6-3 7-6(4). Third consecutive Seoul title for him. I actually wanted Sugita to win. As you said, a title here would've put him in the top-110, and with a good chance to make the top-100 next month in Yokohama or Toyota

Sugita def. Wang 6-0 6-3

Sugita vs Lu final. Rendy should win, but Sugita is on a hot streak.

Sugita will be top 110 if he wins the title. But I still want Rendy to take it. Then maybe next year Rendy can start doing damage in ATP MDs again.

Too bad for Danai, but expected result. I hope Jimmy can take this second semifinal

Lu d. Udomchoke 7-6(10) 6-3

Danai had 4 sp in the first set tiebreak, one of them with his own serve. After he didn't take those chances, the result was NID.

He just got schooled by a much better player, nothing surprising At least he took advantage of his seeding to reach the quarterfinals.

Thanks shuhrat for a more accurate translation of the article

I like this semifinal line-up. IMO we'll have a rematch from last year's final between Lu and Wang, though I wouldn't mind a final between Danai and Sugita either.. anyway, I think both Taiwanese are the favourites to win their semifinal matches.

Sad to see both Lim and Nam lost, but at least they still have to play the doubles semifinals tomorrow.

An all Asian semi final line up. De Schepper's good run finally ends.

Lu peaking for the Seoul Challenger again, he wants to prove he's better than Hyung Taik Lee.

Yes, though he didn't tell the details there.

Rough translation of the article:

- He has been suffering from ankle injuries since 2009. He chose to receive medical treatment instead of going ahead with surgery. Somehow it got worse, this time (in March) there was no other option.

- It was for removing some bone-pieces in his right instep. He got back to the court in July.

- Due to his optimistic nature, the rehap process didn't take too much time. Only four months.

- Lim "Three years ago, I got injured when my ranking was on the rise up to around 200. Again, this year just when I felt like I was getting into my top form. It was massively discouraging and stressful for me."

- His target is to play 30 tournaments in a season without pushing himself too much. He tends to overwork while gaining momentum, which caused those injuries in the past.

- He thinks there are quite a few weak points in his game, especially they are more noticeable during a match. But he feels confident, as it also means bigger room to improve with more matches under his belt. He's very happy on the court and with his progress too so far.

Would you call him the best young Korean player right now, or would you say Jeong, Na and Hong Chung are better?
Probably Jeong is the most promising in that group nowadays. He's two years younger than Lim and I can't recall him having any injuries so far, fortunately. Lim could be pretty good too, if he can avoid all those injuries from now on

Anyway, the two most promising young Koreans right now are Chung Hyeon (16 y.o. Lost against Jimmy Wang in the 2nd round of this challenger and got his first ATP points this week) and Kang Ku Keon (15 y.o. Was the 5th seed this week at the Grade A tournament in Osaka but had a disappointing loss in the 2nd round). Both of them have had a pretty good year in the junior circuit and look like bright prospects for the future.
