Huge credit.

Why does it work?

Because Roger lets it work.

All Roger ever had to do was sit down with his coach and figure out a counter plan.
That never happened, not really.

Tennis is sport, sport is about winning and playing to your strengths ,not, playing to your opponents strengths. Doh.

Toni just blew my mind. I always thought the idea for Rafa was to go for broke against Roger. All those booming aces and outright forehand winners deceived me.

It's great how you try to diminish Olderer achievements: if he is an overrated mug who benefited of a weak era, what can we say about the strength of the clay field where Rafa had to beat the same overrated fast court specialist mug to win the majority of his FO titles.

Borg has won his titles in a stronger era, therefore I would say:

6x2=12>7

Multiplying by 2 is needed cause back in the day there were many more clay court specialists. Who are the other clay specialists in this era? Ferrer? The Spanish guy who bends over for Rafa anytime he asks? The same guy who's 0-14 against overrated, overhyped ballerina Olderer? Lol, strong clay era.

You have to either multiply Borg's titles by 2, or discount the titles Rafa won beating that overrated, overhyped fast-court specialist ballerina.

I can't wait for Nadal to make his return. His disgusting behavior and outlandish antics take on a quality of high comedy whenever he haplessly attempts to compete on a reasonably fast surface. Come on Nadal. Quit your cowardly hiding and play the indoor season and WTF. Everybody loves a good joke!

On Nadal's fame - some more facepalm quotes.
I see no lies there.

That mug era that Fed dominated is the same mug era in which Nadal won his 11 slams (7 of them at FO) so any attempt to disparage Fed's era also puts down Nadal. Making fun of Mirka and her weight is only a credit to Fed who could pretty much have his pick of women but who remains faithful to an overweight, not so hot looking (compared to the other tennis players' wives/girlfriends) older woman.

I think that Fed is comfortable with where he's at in his career. No matter what the Rafatards say, the record number of weeks at #2 is not a plus in any GOAT debate. His phenomenal clay play is to be applauded although I would still pick Borg over Nadal because of the serve - even on clay and most definitely on other surfaces.

I find that you and others with you use the word cheat in a rather broad sense.
Anyways, I was referring to the part quoted by Deathless Mortal.

Re: Toni: "When facing Roger the idea was always to slow down the points"

there is the obvious question that some on this forum mean to avoid and that is...........

if by taking longer (than 25 seconds on average by point)
you are breaking the rules

is it a strategy or is it cheating to beat roger
