Yes Andy's personality is not suited to be the #1 player. Which is really a shame because he worked so hard to get that ranking. I guess it goes to the old saying of being careful for what you wish for because you just might get it!

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

I want him to have a great Wimbledon of course, but you're correct, I don't think he likes being number 1, too much in the spotlight for him and makes him a target and like you said, he prefers being the chaser and the underdog.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

The pressure on him is always so high at Wimbledon. He has had a lot of health problems this year which will not help anyone's tennis playing. But I don't think Andy does well with that #1 Ranking. I don't think it suites his personality. He does better as an underdog I think. Of course, at this rate we will see how long that #1 ranking will last? Hopefully he will stay healthy and start playing better. But almost half way into the season it may be too late for him to put out of his slump now?

Maybe things having to even out actually helps the sports world? Just think in all sports if one player/one team won everything all the time? That would really empty the seats out at sporting events!

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

Been pretty awful year for him so far, it's amazing how in tennis a player's fortunes can change so quickly. The end of 2016 was his best period of prolonged success and it gets followed with nearly 6 months where everything that can go wrong, has. From getting shingles after the AO, then the elbow injury, getting flu just before the French, it's like someone decided it all has to even out.

I wonder if he's just got it into his head that only slams matter now and everything else is just not worth the hassle. Would make sense I suppose, he has nothing else to prove in his career outside of slams, pretty much every box has been ticked. My only concern now is he won't be as motivated to win Wimbledon as he was the French. The French is something he really wants, whereas he's already won Wimbledon twice.

I would love to see that, but the way he has been playing so far this year is a concern to me.

AO for Slam #5

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

well, looks like he may be back for Madrid?

Hoping he hits form for RG, that was the event I wanted him to win this year

Good thing about all this rest is simple: post clay he will be fully refreshed and I can see him doing very well second half of the year.

Fingers crossed he skips IW in future. Barely plays like a top 40 player there.

I want him to win IW, Monte Carlo and RG this year. Everything else would be a bonus.

Such moderation on my part.

Dubai at last

I'd be happy with one of Indian Wells/Miami and Monte Carlo, preferably the last because another clay Masters would be epic.

FO is a lock

2015 Madrid, SF RG
2016 Rome, F RG

All signs point to victory at RG in 2017.
