Great to see Peliwo with a positive result. If anyone needs it, it's him. The younger guys will probably lose but we'll see. Would be nice to see an all Canadian final.

Re: Canadian Players 2

Two very interesting Canadian match up's tomorrow in Gatineau:

- Peliwo vs. Polansky
- Dancevic vs. Shapovalov

Old vs. young in a way. Cant wait to see what happens. I'm going Polansky in straights and Dancevic in three.

Re: Canadian Players 2

Lots of potential compelling match ups this week in Gatineau.

Peter and Felix play each other tomorrow. With a couple of wins, Frank and Denis could play in the QF. A longshot but Phil and Filip could play in R2 as well.

Of course now that I posted this, guaranteed none of this happens

Re: Canadian Players 2

Sigouin had a tough loss against Gonzalez today in Toronto qualifier. From the first ball, he was definitely the aggressor, and he kept that up for most of the match. He broke Gonzalez in the 3rd game, and carried that through to 5-4 in the 1st set. In that final game while serving for the set, he was up 15-0 and hit what would probably have been a winner against his normal competition === but this is the pros. Gonzalez not only got to the ball, but hit a passing winner down the line. And that was a portent for the break to come, and then a relatively easy win for Gonzalez in the TB. Second set, Sigouin got broken early, and never seemed to threaten Gonzalez serve.

Still, I was impressed. Probably doesn't have the upside of his 2 Davis Cup buddies, but could we actually have 3 good pros from this current junior crop? Oh, and he seemed to hit a lot of drop shots. Some of them really good. (A bunch of others not so much, and probably ill advised, but it was fun to watch).

Re: Canadian Players 2

That's actually the list I had in my head if they all went to Canadians, except I forgot about Schnur for qualies and gave one to Peliwo instead. But now remembering Schnur him getting one is better than Peliwo. I half expect the Q list to get down to Bester(maybe furthur) and they have to give his WC to someone else anyway.

There's an argument Bester v. Diez given Diez is better on clay, but I like rewarding Diez for his solid year.

Right decision on WC's I think. Happy to see Diez get one.
