Re: Del Potro will never win a slam again.

He was knocked out in the 2nd Round at his last 2 Major attempts - 2013 US and 2014 AO, hardly impressive but not sure how badly he was affected by injury in these instances.
He will probably then take another 12 months to get back to where he was.
If he can go on another winning run, a late career Slam at best is probably all that could be hoped for.

He needs a titanium wrist and then he could probably sweep 2015.

With that said, del Potro is a vastly superior tennis player to Wawrinka (who won AO), Cilic and Nishikori (one of them will win a Slam tomorrow, and both will play the final), so if he returns at a decent level you have to say there's a very good chance he could win another one. It's not like the top of the game is getting stronger or anything.
Naa, in the context of slams, Del Po is vastly overrated.

Just like Nole was in his best form in the year 2011, Del Po was in his best form in the year 2009. In 2009, Del Po reached AO-QF, FO-SF, and won USO. So, one can see his consistent progress in the year 2009 when he emerged as a USO winner.

Remove 2009, Del Po had reached QF and beyond only twice after that; 2012 AO-QF and 2013 Wimby-SF. Vastly superior tennis player? His grand slam results and master's 1000 results don't indicate that he is a vastly superior tennis player.

Pessimistically voted no. He won USO, got injured soon after and it took him a few years actually to get something approaching top form back. That was late last year, he was really on fire, destroyed Rafa in Asia, and only lost to Djoker narrowly. He was playing great again finally. And then...injury reoccurs.

I like your use of the word "IF". Yes, he is consistently injured and consistently absent from the ATP tour.

If he comes back at a decent level he will.

If he makes a final and faces Kei or Marin, then yes.

If Cilic and Nishikori can make a Slam Final, I'm sure Del Potro will have his chances.

Del Potro might win another HC slam someday.
