Fresh from the set of “Runner, Runner” — their latest film starring Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck — screenwriting/directing duo Brian Koppelman and David Levien are turning their attention to tennis champion Jimmy Connors, who turned 60 on Sunday. Spies saw the pair at the US Open on Saturday starting production on an ESPN doc about Connors’ miraculous run at the 1991 US Open at age 39 for the network’s “30 for 30” series. Tennis greats including Martina Navratilova and Connors himself are expected to participate, we hear, although one legend still being lined up is Billie Jean King, whom Koppelman asked for an interview via Twitter over the weekend.
