If the courts speed up he'll win multi slams, but the current situation is negative.

And when you have to make a list of what needs to improve at this point, it's already probably a lost battle.
huge mental game, Raonic his mature beyond his years. big serve, good off the baseline, improving movement which will only get better as he fills out his physical state. his speed will never be amazing but great slam winners in the past got past that.

you are delusional if you think he will not win ONE slam at some point. the younger generations are horrible, that alone will enable him to. who do you expect to stop him? do you really think the likes of Tomic will have the will and determination in a grand slam final to beat Raonic? please

if he improves his movement and adds more percentage on his forehand, yes

he would certainly have a slam already if he played 20 years ago

So true. Anyways despite it looking reasonably bleak, I still look forward to this "new era" in a way. Raonic will only get better from here, so time will tell.

He also looks like he has the most limited game (apart from Sock) so he could find it difficult to break through that glass ceiling. It's possible he could win a slam or he may be one of those players who is dangerous at slams due to his serve but doesn't have the game to go all the way.

Nowadays you don't win slams with just a good FH and serve.

I want Raonic to copy Berdych's game(except serve of course) who is also 6'5 tall.If he can play as good as Berdych from the baseline he will be No 1.

Re: Will Raonic win a grand slam in the future?

I think he has the quality to win one, yes. Sure, he hasn't made his breakthrough in grand slam tournaments so far but then again hardly anyone outside the top 4 have been able to make a big impression in the latter stages of the slams lately.

It's important to remember that he is far from the finished article yet. He will need time to improve on his ground strokes even though his serve and mentality are both very good already. He is the most promising amongst the players in his age group and so despite the fact that it's difficult to look beyond the top few players right now, his time will surely come.

I'm not sure whether he has it in him to become world number 1 or win multiple slams, however. I think he will have a career akin to Ivanisevic but it's early days yet. I'm not the biggest fan of his style of play but I will be keen to watch how he develops now that he is becoming a consistent top 16 player. I wish him all the best.

Re: Will Raonic win a grand slam in the future?

How gutting would it be for Murray if he doesn't win a Slam and in 5 years time there are no dominant players and Raonic, Dimitrov et al are all winning them? You'd think a Federer type player will come along again (not necessarily another Federer, which may never happen again, but a dominant player) but I'm not sure if that player is going to be Raonic. The next couple of years for him are crucial in his development.
