Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Today Fed tied Lendl for most consecutive weeks in the top-100.

This was the last place Lendl was ahead - he no longer leads Fed anywhere.

Federer today enters his 595th week in the top-3, thus eclipsing Connors' total (of which I am 99% sure) of 594 weeks

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Federer with the finals appearance has beaten Connors for consecutive weeks in the top 100. Federer has now had a longer sustained career than Connors.

The curious thing is that Federer is still 94 weeks shy of Connors for consecutive weeks in the top 10, indicating that while Federer has had a longer career, Connors has so far had a longer run of sustained excellence.

Will be interesting this year, with Federer putting on a significant challenge to Connors' time at 4 and 5, I put him about 20 some weeks shy now, and every point he gets will get him closer. The target is about 6k ranking points, for which he's already obtained 1k.

Still too far away on the consecutive top 10 list to even contemplate it, even though it's a tremendous record.

He'll surpass McEnroe and Lendl based on point momentum, he's too far up to fall behind either, indicating that it's just him, Connors and Agassi in the longevity standings. That's it. Nobody else.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Fed finally tied the 589 weeks in the top-3 I have long given for Connors. So is it time to celebrate another record? Not yet. 589 only represented the weeks I weas 100% sure Connors had in the top-3. He could have as many was 598. The most likely is 594. So I will wait a few more weeks to declare the record.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

Interestingly, Fed's campaign to break Connors' record for consecutive weeks in the top 100 starts this week.

Finals appearance here would likely clinch the record.

Re: Fed stats - with most weeks in top-2, 3, 5 and 10

This week Fed finally officially ties McEnroe for 3rd most consecutive weeks in the top-100.

He also celebrates his 800th straight week in the top-50 and will tie Lendl in 3rd for this stat next week.

Fair enough. Still, Top 1, Top 2, Top 3. Only Connors has done that.

Well, Stan only got 500 points from the remaining part of the season last year. So it's probable it's enough. But I'll hold the celebrations until there is no longer a mathematical possibility of anyone pushing him down below 3rd.

Most total weeks in the top-100 is still quite a bit away, but most consecutive weeks in the top-100 only requires him to remain inside throughout next season. He could conceivably secure that one already during AO 2016. An SF spot would be enough to secure it.
