Tuggy He played a bunch of tournaments the last bit. He said he wants to take a break and prepare for the grass season.

Brad1973 Sad to see him skip the French. Couldn't he at least play the doubles? The only challenger during the first week of Roland Garros is on clay.

What a great result for Pospisil! Back into the top 100 at #82.

Re: Vasek Pospisil

I've always felt confidence was the issue with Vasek. The tools are obviously there but the problem is behind the ears. Hopefully he is getting is head straight and can play the tennis he is capable of.

Hopefully he can continue to play this well and get back into the top 50 as his talent level is clearly that high. It was frustrating to see him outside the top 120.
yep - interesting to note as well he played such confident and composed tennis this week after firing his coach.

Top 50 means direct entry into tournaments at every level: Slams, 1000s, 500s, and of course 250s. Vasek, with a career high of #25, is definitely good enough to be well within the top 50. It sounds like he had a rough year in 2016, but things are looking way up for him lately. Let's hope the trend continues.

Congratulations, Vasek!! He should jump up to about #83 in Monday's new rankings - enough for direct entry into Slams, definitely good for most 250s - so we should be seeing a lot more of Vasek on the ATP Tour.

Regardless of tomorrow's result, Vasek's ranking rises to somewhere in the 80s, comfortably within the cutoff for direct entry into Slams. Even losing in the 1st Round in the four Slams means prize money of $150,000+, enough to pay a player's expenses for the year! The next goal is to get his ranking up to ~50 for direct entry into the Masters 1000s. Again, even losing 1st Round in all nine Masters 1000s is a good chunk of change for a tennis player. Vasek was once ranked as high as 25 and has recently beaten the #1 player. While it's great that Vasek is doing what he needs to do to get his ranking up, I don't want to see him playing Challengers any more.
