Question about a player challenging the call on the court

Normally, when a point has been made incorrectly, the player challenges it in a typical response in either:

1) By saying: "Challenge"
2) Sticks their racquets towards the sky
3) Looks at the umpire & and nods their head
etc

However, there are also times I see where the umpire announce the review, when the 3 above responses don't occur. Usually, say ....Federer looks at the opposite court maybe for split second or maybe looks on his courtside for split second and then the umpire challenge on his behalf? It seems like the umpire can read their mind or its their basic instinct? Something I don't quite understand though I also do expect/predict in split seconds, the umpire will review the challenge.

I mean in what gesture the umpire would go ahead?

Re: S.Q.T. (stupid question thread)

For courts that have Hawkeye technology, why not review every close ball? What's the point of challenges when you have the technology to get it right and fairly quickly?

How does one get to be a line judge? Are they staring at their particular line non-stop during a match? Is their vision tested? With as fast as the balls are hit, I am extremely impressed that most get the calls correct the first time.

How does one get to be part of the crew that fetches balls hit into the net, or gives towels to the players?

Are their any tennis books that discuss the gossip and seedy parts of the tours? Are the ATP and WTA players hooking up and partying when their events are at the same place?

Its limping in the other wimbledon courts too but center court is the limpiest of all.

You've never been on a tennis court? You've never heard commentators stating "he hit the passing shot over the high part of the net" (ie. parallel to the sideline)?
