Maybe he'll leave something else in the water this year for Ssssiiii-mon. The Frenchman still looks like he hasn't eaten in a week.

ha ha ha ha ha.

so right general.

and especially guys like Simon who has not been able to find any food in 6 months now.

Federer allows a few bread crumbs to fall from his dinner table also now and then so the weak can prolong their tormented existence for another day.

Federer certainly should be able to win titles like Halle until 40. Hell, he might even surpass Nadal´s 3 decimas if he puts his teeth on it.

However, sadly I doubt he will ever get to the big decima Nadal achieved in RG. Now, that would be one mission from hell to start whispering about if he gets nr 18. Even if he gets there I now sense 12 RGs is in the horizon for Rafa.

Tennis is going from surreal to surrealerer to surrealalerer, where will this end?
Surreal is good. Roger still being around near 40, winning titles, would be both the most legendary and ridiculous thing ever. Add in the rest of the Big 4 still being around near the top in their mid-30s and we'll have an even more hilarious picture, especially if they're all still the top 4

I doubt that will all happen but who knows

With his powerful groundstrokes off both sides, you can see why Lendl did so well on clay. At the same time, he had one of the bigger serves in the game, albeit with one hitch: a stratospheric ball toss. Indoors, without the sun or wind to bother him on the sky-high toss, his serve had a chance to shine.
Big hitters, with powerful serves, do tend to do just as well on clay as they do on the faster surfaces. Clay lets them set up shots more, whereas their powerful serves and strikes allow them to dominate on the faster surfaces too So, yeah, it isn't too surprising. Still very impressive.

Re: Federer : The Mother Of All Quests : 20 Slams And 100 Titles.

federer's main concern at this point should be one that's pretty much entirely out of his control. that is, the older you get, the more likely you have off days that just can't be arrested.

that's why players in their late 20's who are typically in their peak are able to play their best, in my opinion. it's their ability to be consistently great, as federer, nadal and djokovic in particular have demonstrated.

the older one gets, the chances of having an off day seem to increase significantly. hence why federer can play amazing one day, and not have much click the next.

i was worried federer skipping clay would result in him being too rusty, but if he continues to build on his halle showing then his scheduling could work out ingeniously. he certainly appears to have shaken off the rust, and considering he's relatively fresh, the rest of the field should prepare for death

we just have to be patient.

he has left much on the table. I cant be expected to be happy with him but I will take it under consideration.

he should have played at the rome masters and at RG. it would prepared him better for Wimbledon.

I mean maybe but practicing with wimbledon balls on hardcourt is way more prep for grass and he is super well rested and injury free.

This bodes well not only for grass season but the rest of the season when everyone is going to be feeling the grind fed is going to be fresh.

Also, murray played 1 grass match, nadal 0, djokovic will play right before. Most of the top 5 have very little match play on grass coming into the season.

Federer looked unaffected todday at least.. he was always going to be rusty after a 11 week break but it think he is starting to get his groove. Perhaps he would have won stuttgart if he had played during clay but really i think losing to haas was good for haas and federer who kind of woke up a bit.
