Ok thanks. That was very helpful.

Often if a team wins outright in 3-4 matches the dead rubber may be played to a best of 3 format though not always, especially for the final.

It is possible to move single posts but it's laborious so it won't happen en masse. Feel free to report threads you feel deserve merging, though, or posts that need deleting for being too off topic.

Yes, that is why I never has the question about why it was called menstennisforums.... I just randomly saw the header properly and I thought....oh why is it so. crazy me...

Being able to start a point properly is important I guess. Imagine how upset the returner would be if the serve just dribbled over the net to record an ace. And I'll probably add it's easier to adjust to a let cord (providing it's not 'dead') off a rally ball than off a serve (which has a load of momentum and jump, more unpredictable I guess, and for a returner they have not much time to respond).

Well can you see how many I've made? If you can, you've answered your own question.

My question is, it is absolutely silly I know, but why does the url to this site has menstennisforums and the header in the site has onle menstennisforum? Is it a mistake or it is intended to be so? @VS Jeff

If the ball is bad the bounce will be funny. They can catch that before the serve and replace the ball with another one.

Doing it more than once or twice is just a routine, no real benefit except to do the same thing you always do. Why it started is probably impossible to tell.
