Not sure I understand the question. Longest career entirely in the Open Era on anything resembling top level is surely Jimmy Connors, who played his first professional match in 1970 and his last in 1996. Some players ranked too low to be noticed could have been at it longer for all I know.

He didn't play at all during grass season last year, either singles or doubles. And his singles ranking now is in the 500s, making him dependent upon WCs.
