He's in Columbus and gets Torpegaard in the first round.

No that's only for the MD - qualies a few weeks later. I'm not 100% sure its July 31st for the cutoff but it would be the same one as last year. Otherwise it would be this Monday.

Filip was the fav. vs. Schnur actually, Giron was the fav. vs him in both matches, all the matches it was an ever so slight fav. though.

He could have really used the points too - he's about 20 spots out of a US Open qualy place which would be a remarkable achievement considering where he was a few months ago

How successful a journeyman I believe is yet to be seen. How high can he reach I don't know. Top 150? A bit higher. I'd like to see him be able to eke out a living on the Challenger Tour. Maybe make a couple of GS Main Draws along the way. Either way, he is doing what he has to do on the Futures Tour and it might be time for him to try to win a few matches on the Challenger Tour.
Fair enough!

Great to see the win today, and in the SF to avenge his loss to Sarkissian in the Kelowna F.

I presume he will be at the Vancouver Challenger in August, so I hope to see him there.

He won the title today. 7-6(6) 6-7(5) 6-1. 6th Futures title this year. I believe he's in Winnipeg for the Challenger tournament next week.

Re: Filip Peliwo

I was in Kelowna last weekend and was able to take in his QF and F matches. I'm a long way from being an astute observer of pro tennis skills, but to me he seems very much suited to the Futures tour. Seems to lack basic consistency (in each match I saw, he must have aborted his service toss 20+ times!) and doesn't have any major weapons.

His attitude seems better than I saw at the Vancouver Challenger a few year ago (terrible body language, serious negative energy) but I don't see him moving up much. Clearly he has been overtaken by Felix and Denis as the promising Canadian tennis youth.
