Re: Playing On the Dirt - On to Monte Carlo

Kei pulled out from WTC. He's back in Bradenton and wrote in his blog for yesterday that he still feels some pain when serving which means he's in doubt for RG too I think....
Last week he spent two days in Chicago with the trainer who looked after his training in December.

At WTC, Soeda, Ito and doubles specialist Bunpei Sato are playing. Tatsuma did very well yesterday to beat Stepanek!

I hope so too.

I don't see Kei's photo in the team profile on the WTC Düsseldorf website, any confirmation that he's definitely out this week?

I agree. It would sucked if he has to miss another GS (French Open) after doing so well in the Australian Open but if he needs more time to heal his injury then so be it. I just hope Kei and his team won't rush his recovery.

Thanks for posting the news bunny, things happen out of the blue, out of our control.
I hope Kei will take extra care with any injuries to fully recover before playing, even if he has to miss RG

More update:

Hi everyone…little update. Heard from the doctors and they are saying 2 to 3 weeks for recovery of the stumoch muscle. I will go back bnext week for another check-up and will have more info then.

Glad to hear the injury is not a long-term one although I won't believe it 100% until I see him play again! (Remember how his elbow injury started in 2009? First they said it would take a few weeks to heal, then a few more weeks, months and it took more than six months for him to even have a surgery...!)
Even in the best case scenario Kei probably won't be able to start practice for two-three weeks. Japan is supposed to play WTC in Dusseldorf a week before RG. I reckon the plan was to make a team with Kei, Soeda and Ito. But now I wonder if Kei will be fit enough to play RG let allone WTC...

Re: Playing On the Dirt - On to Monte Carlo

From FB.

Hi everyone…thanks for all the messages of support. Injured my stomach during my last match in Barcelona. Seeing doctors this week and will see how long the healing takes. Madrid and Rome are going to be out for sure. Will keep everyone posted in the next weeks on how things go. Thanks for the support.

Hope he can play RG...

I think it's abdominal, the trainer was pressing his belly.
It looked he couldn't hit BH or serve. He seemed to be in a lot of pain...
Hope the injury won't take long to heal...!
Yes you're right, it should be the abdomen regions.
Injuries are 1000x worst than any tough losses...hope Kei can recover and stay healthy
