im kind of surprised really . I knew it would be a tight match but vasek never had a lead, i didnt think that andi would be able to put play him like that. Obviously im aware of the talent he posseses, he's top 50 when he's on but i expected a 3 setter
vasek didn't seem like himself early in the match. He seemed pissed off, was missing a lot of shots he probably shoudln't of. I only watched until 3-1 beck in the 2nd set
AO Qualies draw is out. Vasek got a tough round 1 match in Millman who qualified for Brisbane. He should win it but not a guy I wanted to see. Round 2 would be against Schukin or Ball, which he should win even with ball's corwd support. Round 3 would be against probably Schwank but it could be Kudla too. He should win it, it's not a bad draw but not a good one either
I think the first match against Millman will be the toughest in the section. Overall not a cakewalk, but he should be able to qualify. Good news is the Millman match will be livestreamed tonight
It wouldn't surprise me if Vasek lost to Millman, Millman's a decent player but with that said, Vasek can overcome him and still qualify for the main draw. Hopefully, he can pull it off.
a win is a win, and he managed to compose himself enough to get it. That was probably his toughest match in the qualies but it'd still be nice for him to get better, in case he needs it in the MD should he make it that far
I caught the end of the first set and the early second set - certainly looked like a nervous and subpar Vasek. Glad he fought through - should be a serve fest with Ball.
Doesn't seem like it was a great match for Vasek, but I do think that's the toughest match for him, on paper. Hopefully we get streams for his match with Ball.
Niemeyer is extremely disciplined, extremely professional and they seem to complement each other very well. He knows what it takes to succeed on tour.I think what helped milos when he moved to barcelona was that he was able to train with a lot more great players.
Vasek is set to beat his second Aussie in a row. Carsten Ball is a huge favourite with the Aussie girls so I imagine there will be quite a crowd out there supporting Ball. That being said Ball has no form at all to speak of and he was lucky to squeak through his first qualifying match. I am tipping Vasek to win in straight sets and wish him good luck!
