ike! (Go!) pronounced [eekeh]. "Ke" should sound higher than "I."
The verb ganbaru means work hard, fight hard, etc. Ganbatte sounds slightly more effeminated than ganbare.

Vamos or C'mon after winning a point, match, etc.:
Yoshi! (Good!) pronounced [yohshee], stress on "yo."
Yatta! (You did it!) pronounced [yattah!], intonation: "ta" should sound higher than "ya."
Yattene (You did it!) pronounced [yattahneh] intonation: "tane" should sound higher than "ya."
Thank you very much I hope I can remember it!

I saw Hanyu, he is exremely talented I've heard about he was in Sendai at this time, several days we did worry about his safety (I mean on Russian figure skating forums). Love Miki, she was brilliant (but I dislike her coach, he is so arrogant and self-loving). Mao's dresses are total mess

Daisuke So unlucky.
Yeah Kozuka was wonderful especially in his free skating. I've always thought he's the most musical of the top three Japanese guys.
I agree Daisuke was so unfortunate. That was one freak accident...

My favourite male figure skaters are Johnny Weir, Bran Joubert and Yuzuru Hanyu. Watch Hanyu rise in the next few years! He actually comes from Sendai, which was devastated by the March 11 earthquake. At the time of quake he was practicing at the rink in the city, which of course was damaged by the tremor. Although he and his family were not hurt, he spent four days in a shelter because there was no water or electricity at his house.

As you probably know the world championship was scheduled to take place in Tokyo in late March but was cancelled because of the quake. So I'm so glad Miki won the gold in women's singles. Although I'm more of a Mao fan, I though Miki's performaces were the best both in the short programme and free skating. A bit sad to see Mao struggle after changing her jump forms. Hope she'll come back strong in the next season (but her costume for SP was )!
