Yes, the main draw is determined based on the rankings as at Monday 05 December (6 weeks prior to the tournament start, as usual). In practice though, because this coming week is the last week of Challengers for the year, it's basically the rankings as at next Monday.

Ducks will go from 104 to 102 at the start of the week due to Nishioka and Cervantes falling behind him. Nishioka is playing in Astana, but has to win that tournament to go past James again. The only real danger is Jared Donaldson in Columbus, with Stakhovsky and Chiudinelli also chances if they win their respective events.

As a comparison, Ebden just missed out by one with a ranking of 105 for this year's MD.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Todays been quite a good day for aussies and the AO,

Ducky just won and is up to about 103 or so and could mean direct entry and saves WC
Cabrera's final points makes her automatically in quallies regardless of a WC
Chris O'connel's win as cemented him inside the top 250 which means he will more then likely be direct entry in quallies aswell

Yeah, and i mean if not still a rise i think to about 111 or so, and im sure he will get a WC based on his efforts, he may elect not to play the playoff

Yes, a vital match for Duckworth to win here because whilst he'd only get up to 104 with the title, Nishioka and Cervantes would drop behind him the following week and only the first of these is playing again (but defending last year's Toyota title).

A ranking of 102 would probably leave him out of the initial main draw for the AO after protected rankings are exercised, but there's usually enough withdrawals that someone at that mark does get in eventually.

He's played a lot these last few weeks. Hopefully he has enough energy left in the tank for one last push - in some respects Saville did him a favour today by taking Ito to three tough sets, though.

If he can win, it sets him up beautifully for a return to the top 100 next year because of his long absence in the first half of this season.

One more win will see him virtually guarantee him an AO MD direct acceptance!! but.... he has never been able to beat Ito! cmon Ducky!

Duckworth into his third straight Challenger final. Very close to the top 100 now and with only 49 points to defend until May.

Duckie fight shad at Newport but can't overcome a tough draw, going down to No.4 seed Adrian Mannarino in three sets, all tie-breaks, winning the first tb 7-3, then dropping the next two 7-3 and 7-4.
Damn good effort and oh-so close.

Eek, Duckworth has his 2nd really embaressing loss this year ( first to Hewitt ) noone should be losing to Hewitt,

Losing Q1 at the 500 event at London, lost to Groth 7-6(1) in the third, noone should be losing to Groth or Hewitt this year

So does Lu though. Lu beat 2009 finalist Roddick at Wimbledon in 2010 on his way to the quarter-finals.
