Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Ducks mentioned on his twitter that he'll be hopeful to play Dehli and Kyoto.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Good win for James. Needs to go deep to defend his points which are dropping in the incoming months.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

That is a wonderful win by James. I think Fritz has a wonderful future and was unlucky with his draw at the Open. I was expecting James to lose this match so a very pleasant surprise here.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Ducky rides his luck again and plays a solid match to beat "lucky loser" Inigo Cervantes (ATP72) 63 62.
James played well within his capabilities, aided by some wayward play at times from Cervatntes, who clearly is ranked above where he should be, or is just a mud dog.

Great for James, look forward to seeing him in action against Jeremy Chardy next.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

The draw was a good one for him as well. Very dissapointing.

He has two tournaments left but on current form his year looks over. The whole question of if he deserves wildcards during the Australian Summer will be debated in another thread but on current form he just doesn't deserve one.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Not the result Janes was hoping for in Charlottesville Challenger - the No. 2 seeded Duckworth going down to qualifier, Englishman David Rice, current ATP ranking 530 (high of 283) 64, 46, 26. Duckie defended just 1 of 6 breakpoint opportunities against him, whilst only converting 3 of the 11 chances he created. Serve stats not good either, below 50%.
Not a good result, may be Rice's highest ranked scalp...

Yikes. Awful scoreline.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Disappointing thought he'd be a lot more competitive here.

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Let's face it, he was never staying in top 100 long. His ranking is being propped up still by things like those lucky loser draws, but inevitable that he and others in his gen will be overrun by the 96ers and younger sooner or later...

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

What an extremely poor result - while Chung is a talent, you'd expect James to be a lot more competitive with him than that at this early point of the Korean's career!

At this stage I can't see Ducks staying in the Top 100 without a Challenger win somewhere. He's losing 80 points right at the end of the season, and his ATP results are not currently strong enough to make up the difference...

Re: James Duckworth Cheering Thread

Not the best from James today - he goes down to Chung in straight sets 36 16 26.
