*BREAKING NEWS*

Kei will fly to Paris tomorrow to play RG.

According to his blog, updated this time by his staff, Kei kad an MRI test in Rome and at first they suspected kidney stone.
He then returned to Japan to have further treatment. He does have stones but that is not serious and the pain was more to do with acute stomach cramp due to excess stomach acid.
He received IV and medication and now he's got better.

Phew! Excess stomach acid? Maybe he had too much stress...
Anyway I hope he'll be 100% OK and can focus on his tennis again!

*edit* And now from facebook:

Hi everyone, just wanted to give you a little update. I went back to Japan to get a second opinion from a Japanese doctor last Saturday. After some examinations and more treatment from the doctors here in Tokyo, I am feeling better and I am ready to play the French Open. Had my first practice today in Tokyo and I am leaving Japan tomorrow to join my coaching team in Paris and start preparing for the French Open.

Re: 2011 Clay Court Season: Rome Masters

No news as far as I know. Kei's physio hasn't tweeted anything, and hide sakamoto has made only some suggestive tweets, like "I can't say anything yet." I think he shouldn't tweet at all if he can't.

Re: 2011 Clay Court Season: Rome Masters

Kei's pictures are all over the Guinot Mary Cohr 3eme Masters exhibition's website...

Have they confirmed an alternate to replace Kei's spot yet?
Or maybe a slim chance that Kei will still play there, I think he's scheduled to play on the 20th.

Re: 2011 Clay Court Season: Rome Masters

According to a Japanese newspaper, Kei will return to Florida to receive further treatment but he doesn't need to have a surgery.
And he still intends to play RG.

Fingers crossed!

Re: 2011 Clay Court Season: Rome Masters

From facebook:

Hey everyone…little update. I woke up Monday morning (before my match against Monfils) with severe stomach pain and had to pull out. I spent the night in the hospital in Rome and found out I had a severe kidney infection in my left kidney. It was cleaned this morning and am expected to feel better in the next cpl of days. We will also get a second opinion this next week. Thanks for all the good wishes

Probably he'll be out of the exhibition next week...
Hope he will get better soon and can play RG...!

Re: 2011 Clay Court Season: Rome Masters

I was really looking forward to this match too.

From the tournament's official site:

ATP live blog

4.40 pm [...] Jarkko replaced Kei Nishikori who has kidney stone problems, while Gael Monfils is still ill after going down with something in Madrid and saw his place taken by fellow Frenchman Adrian Mannarino. [...]

Re: 2011 Clay Court Season: Rome Masters

You're right bunny, they're now showing the battle of the 2 LL's match.

It seems so sudden, really hope it's not too serious so he can recover swiftly.

But boy was I ready for this matchup...

Re: 2011 Clay Court Season: Rome Masters

Kei's withdrawal is official. The match was scheduled to be shown on Japanese TV (paid TV channel GAORA) later but they said they will show Roddick vs Simon instead because Kei was not playing.

And OMG Monfils has pulled out too.

LLs are Nieminen and Mannarino.
