But I cannot say "only Dimitrov" can be reanked higher than Kei next Monday - there are 13 players who can outrun Kei in case of title in Helsinki (or in Buenos-Aires for Zeballos)

Igor Kunitsyn will be higher than Kei if he reach QF level...

Re: 2010 US Autumn Challengers: Charlotteville, Knoxville and Champaign

Thanx, misty and flyboy for your input!

misty, yeah I'm aware Dimitrov only has a mathematical chance to be ranked better than Kei at the end of the season, but I wish him good luck too in the next season.

flyboy, Delpo is already out of top 200 in the rankings for Nov. 15 (), but I didn't know about Przysiezny losing so many points, and the PR situations! Thanx!

Yeah, counting all the possibilities, Kei should be fine for AO. All he needs to be stay fit and injury free and the result will take care of itself.

The only guys who I can see using the PR are Del Potro, Maximo Gonzalez, Haas and Tursunov. Haas as of right now is scheduled to come back in San Jose after the AO, and Del Potro may get a WC. So the cut off will likely be in the 98-100 area, which should be fine enough for Kei. There are always at least 5 withdrawals for majors, and likely will be more this year since there is so little time between seasons.

Re: 2010 US Autumn Challengers: Charlotteville, Knoxville and Champaign

Kei is definitely going to make the AO. It's not even a question. The one win he had this week helped him tremendously as it raised him into the top 100 and up positions. Also, with Del Potro dropping from the top 100, he will move up another position automatically, and also Michal Przysiezny is going to be falling from the top 100. So Kei will definitely make the Australian Open, as the cut off will likely be somewhere in the 105-110 (higher or lower determining how many withdrawals there are) range like usual.

Re: 2010 US Autumn Challengers: Charlotteville, Knoxville and Champaign

i am a fan of grigor but im saying it now: i dont think he is that much of a concern to over take kei. Grigor plays tobias kamke in the first round and quite honestly..given the way he struggles after breaks i dont see him winning

kunitsyn might be tired or could withdraw since he's made the smis and possibly the final in bratislava and i dont think zeballos is a strong threat either

kei is looking good for the main draw

Re: 2010 US Autumn Challengers: Charlotteville, Knoxville and Champaign

Kei will have 554 points when the new rankings will be released on Monday. His provisional ranking is #99, but there are several players who has a chance to overtake him by the end of the season, which is the end of next week.

They are:
--Bolelli (532 points this week), playing the Helsinki challenger next week.
--Kavcic (518 pts this week) earned 8 points this week in Bratislava, playing Helsinki next week.
--Zeballos (512 points this week), earned 15 points in Cancun this week, playing Buenos Aires challenger next week.
--Kunitsyn (507 this week), playing SF in Bratislava this week, will play Helsinki next week as well. Has a real chance to top Kei's ranking points.
--Dimitrov (491 this week), playing Helsinki next week. Needs to win Helsinki to surpass Kei's points.

(Helsinki and BA next week are big challenger events. Helsinki offers 100 points to the winner, BA 90 points.)

In a slam, 104 players make the main draw, except for qualifiers and WC recipients. As you guys are aware, these 104 players include the ones who use a protected ranking. Del Potro will probably use one at AO, and there may be a few others too, so Kei had better be ranked inside top 100 to have a real chance to make the main draw, although there will always be a few withdrawals....!
Of course now Kei has no control over the situation but I'm holding my beath...

So this time it was Rafkei! just joking

Good to see Kei's positive note on his facebook, now the tennis season is almost over it feels like holiday have already started. I'm already thinking of next year's AO, but would've been great for me if Kei play Hopman cup...maybe next year

So i did jinxed it? waaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

Anyway Kei had a good year! 2011 will definitely be a year to watch for Kei. I am so excited for it.

Got this on Kei facebook page:

"Lost tonight....did not play bad but Delic played very well. The year is over for me."

"Looking back on my year.....very happy. I had no ranking at all in April and will now end the year around 100. I am hopefull I will get into the Main Draw of the Aussie Open. First a cpl of weeks time off before I start my pre-season training for 2011 at the Bollettieri Academy. Thanks for all the support this year. I am going to work hard to make 2011 a great year and break the "45" goal"

I really thought Chris would be the more difficult opponent for Kei compare to Delic.

Re: 2010 US Autumn Challengers: Charlotteville, Knoxville and Champaign

Yeah, another back-to-back title would be great!
With yesterday's win, Kei's provisional ranking as of today id #99! Of course, there are some players who can still overtake him but it would be wonderful if he can have a few more wins to consolidate a top 100 status.

Delic used to play for the University of Illinois so he is playing on his home turf and will have the crowd support. But I hope it's a good omen for Kei to meet Delic in R2, like he did in Delray Beach two years ago!

I should be more confident in Kei's ability :P
Don't worry, chewy! He should be OK! But I know exactly how you feel!
