Wow, I'm surprised. Looking at the posts for American players, there are not very many lol. Well, anyone at all know what's been going on with JMG's knee muscle tendinitis or something like that? I'm worried about him. BTW, he's an adorable man!
fee you make me so jealous! we get a whole 2 tournaments anywhere near me a year and i'm usually on holiday for one of them and can't get tickets for the other :bigcry: oh well c'est la vie! still super cool someone gets to support them
all this car talk drives me nuts my mates dad is a test driver for mercedes so all she ever talks about is cars too :|
Oh don't be jealous, that was in 2003. There are three tournaments in California each year and next year I may only get to one of them for one or two days. I may not see him at all (which I haven't told him yet, it just depresses me to think of it).
and yet thats still more than i stand the chance of seeing! if i'm lucky i'll get to queens thats about it as i think my holiday is again booked fro wimbledon fortnight although may sacrifice my holiday for it i dunno
Who books your holidays woman? How can you have grass court tournaments so close and not get to at least one? If I ever get over to England in June I am coming to your house and dragging you out by your earlobe.
(and your roddickonline email isn't working, I've had two come back to me....)
my parents book it damn them! even if i do manage to get to the tournaments chances of me getting tickets for the court i want is slim to none unfortunately, i usedto live right next to wimbledon and still struggled to get tickets and i don't live that close i live 90 miles away now and don't drive i have applied for the public ballot though but i always do and never get anywhere
I had a press pass for Superset last year and JMG nearly fell over when he looked up and saw me there. I had a photo pass for Indian Wells this year, which was great fun, but incredibly distracting during JanMike's match against Roddick (I still have no real idea what happened in that match, need to watch the tape some day). It's kind of cool to go to the player interviews after their matches and everything, but it was too much work for me to try to keep track of all the action at IW, try to figure out which courts to go and photograph, and so on, so I don't think I'll be doing it anymore. I kind of decided to go to LA at the last minute in July, but I still managed to get my tickets covered. The most fun I've had at tournaments were the ones that I volunteered for, so you should definitely look in to doing that. That's how I met Andy back in 2002, and that led (indirectly) to meeting JMG, and then Graydon. The people you work with are usually pretty cool too.
i would, but there are a few problems...
1. a place to stay. i'd have to get a hotel, which would cost $ which i don't have.
2. i'd want to watch the tennis instead of working, so i'd probably end up getting fired. they'd catch on to me "volunteering" just so i could get in for free.
The hotel is the hardest part of it, I always try to stay somewhere safe, but cheap. You wouldn't get fired for watching tennis. Most of the shifts are 4 hours and you just kind of 'hang around' after that. I bet you'll end up doing it some day.
No news from JMG lately. I did chat with him briefly the day he got home from Hawaii and he was pretty tired. Haven't heard from him since, haven't even seen him online more than once or twice for just a minute or two. I think he's tuned out tennis for a little while, to spend time with his family and such.
Peggy, these are absolutely excellent pictures of him. I know you've already sent me some for my site, can I use these too? And that last one for my avatar? Do you have more that you haven't told me about?
On another note, I just got some news from JMG. It's on my homepage.
