Re: Florian Mayer Cheering Thread

Florian announced 4 days ago on his homepage that his season is already over, due to an injury suffered during training (stretched tendon on the adductors). He's preparing to be ready for the beginning of next year.

Monte Carlo
Bucharest
Rome
French Open
Halle
Wimbledon
Hamburg
US Open

There should be one more PR left for him after the US Open, unless he uses it for Kitz/Cincy. I think using it for Paris 1000 would be a good idea. Could play a good mix of ATP qualies and challengers until then and get already close to the top 100, then hit his peak form in Paris while others are a bit tired.

Florian plays in Monte Carlo, using a protected ranking.

His draw is not too bad. 1R Youzhny. 2R Cilic.

I had read an interview from his (former) Davis cup captain Arriens in the beginning of the year where he seemed to expect him to be available for the Davis cup first round in march, but he hasn't used his PR to enter any event in january-february neither to enter Indian Wells then I don't expect him to come back before clay season at least.

I would also be interested into some news

Mayer Yes! Feli on fast HC is very tough so this win was very big

And he is OUT in Zagreb but it's right decision.

Gillouthe best Incredible win yesterday over Lopez- 76 76 16 57 63 in nearly 4 hours. Both were playing their best and it was a really fun match with lots of slices, net play, changes of pace, S&V ...

Germany has won the tie 3-0 and so they advance to the QF's, where they will play France away. I hope Flo keeps playing like he is now because then he will definitely will have a shot of getting back into Top-20.

Gillouthe best After one of his best season begginings with a 6-3 record with a SF in Doha and a great R4 showing in Australia ( he was close of being two sets to love up on Ferrer) he now plays the Davis Cup. He plays the second rubber vs Lopez, really don't know what to expect, he's playing well and the surface suits him, but Feli is very dangerous when on and can play great on DC ( he beated Delpo and Fish away).

So, good luck Flo !

Gillouthe best Not that bad of a draw. He has a good record vs Matosevic and he can beat Seppi if he plays like in Doha IMO.
