Hey everyone. I rarely post on this forum because I'm a bit shy but I do check it regularly because Gastón is my favourite by far. I was wondering if anyone heard our man say something about his backhand after he missed one badly, I didnt hear it very well but I think it was something about how it has not worked the last 7 months, I'm not so sure, the one thing I heard clearly was when he said "osea.... ese es el tema" Did anyone notice this?

Re: Gaston time to wake up in the Land Down Under AO thread

When the match finished i felt really sad, he fought and almost won after 0-2, so close, so close.
I think he was exhausted, because on the last game it was hard for him to pass the ball.
Also, Santoro played smart this game.

But Gato showed a lot of possitives things in these 3 matches. I have my hope that this will be a very good year for him.

Good luck Gato!!!

I'm so sorry that Gaston couldn't win the marathon. At least he defended his points.

In the end, after nearly four hours and with his serve not working as well as it has in the last few matches, Santoro used the last bit of strength he had left and pounced.

There was an incredible moment at the end of the second set, with each of them playing a “Big Willy” that will probably be Play of the Month. Fabrice bowed to Gastón, and that’s where Gastón started to enjoy himself.

I hope his team have given him their support, because even if he’s out in the third round again, his improvement on fast surfaces should be kept in mind and totted up as something positive. I’d hate him to feel too defeated!
well said Vale you had sumerized my opinion and feellings about the match.
I saw a lot of positive things, even if the end wasn't what i wanted... I'm sure he will learn a lot from this match.

I think Gaston did very well to come back against Santoro. He's shown that he can fight when he's down. Although he didn't advance, he did pick up some points from last year, and that's a good thing.

I didn't see the match - but just wanted to say how sad I am Unlike some people here I am not so much a fan of Santoro - poor, poor Gastón

Re: Gaston time to wake up in the Land Down Under AO thread

I had watched the match... i only slept 1hour before the match and 1 hour after, now i'm at work and i'm a living dead! But anyway, even if i feel disappointed, i'm happy to have seen Gaston fighting, he didn't give up and try his best to come back in the match, of course the end is frustating for us but it was a great match and i try to comfort myself with that...
But i'm even sad
