From an Australian Roger fan ...

Hi all! Just a few things I'd like to say ...

1. I am ashamed of the morons posting nasty things in General Messages about Roger or Switzerland supposedly in the name of being Australian fans. I am a proud Aussie and wanted Lleyton to win that match, but there's no need for being rude. If I could apologise for them, I would. If I could smack some sense into them, I'd do that too! For what it's worth, I think most Australians realise you can savour a victory without gloating or insults - just a pity that many here do not :(

2. Roger played a great weekend and was a bit unlucky in both losses ... plus he had to play 5 more sets than Lleyton. That's part and parcel of Davis Cup but it was still rough on him. He's an amazing Davis Cup player and his chance will come :)

3.I've been a Roger fan for years - since his Hopman Cup outings with Martina H. He's long been my second choice for slams after Lleyton and I was ecstatic when he won Wimbledon. However, yesterday mad me realise just how much I like him - it was tough watching him lose, even to my favourite and countryman. I really wish that match could have been a draw!

Thank you, N1Kim!

I watched that match yesterday, and saw some parts on the sports news and i felt so sorry for Roger. I was a bit mad at Lleyton, not for his game, but for his attitude on court, screaming out the 4 letter word everytime he made an error, looking so hateful. But i guess moments like these is what makes Davis Cup so special and his tenacity is admirable.

But Roger kept his cool, with 13 sets played in 3 days, i can imagine the burden was getting heavier. And against Lleyton & 13, 000 Aussie fans, it didn't make things any easier...

I can understand why Lleyton's on court antics might make you feel that way Mrs. B! One reason I like Roger is his gentlemanly demeanour! At least Lleyton is a very good person off the court (I know this for a fact) - and you're right, he's a tough little fighter. But sympathy to Roger too, it can't be easy carrying your whole nation's hopes while playing in "hostile" territory. The crowd was OK, I thought (no booing or anything like that), but they were still definitely and loudly pro-Aussie.

Oh well, I'm sure they'll play each other in Switzerland one year soon ...

I'm sure Lleyton is a good guy off court, he even said good things about Roger's game during the interview. They were practicing together during the USO, as well as in Shanghai last year. I'm sure if he played someone else i wouldn't have cared less...

and if he's Kimmy's bf then i'm sure he's ok. ;) She was so cute sitting there like a normal fan, even cheering loudly for him. awww...

Well I actually found the public really fair. I mean it's a home tie so it's absolutely normal they cheer for their own guys. But they did acknowlege the guest play as well. And I never heard anyone yealling out when players were ready to serve or during points. I found the atmosphere really great.

Just to bad Roger couldn't serve it home - (he really should have!!) And then I'm sure we would have seen an other great match. But it wasn't meant to be.

Thanks for the posts, N1K... I wish I could have seen these DC matches even tho SUI lost... I give a lot of credit to Lleyton -- he fights and never gives up and that's why he's accomplished so much in his short career. He's definitely back to his top form now and he proved it coming back fr 2 sets down! I just feel sad for Rogi and what he's had to do for the SUI DC team... too much pressure and I think he felt he HAD to win or curtains...

Just hope Rogi will be healthy for the rest of the year and I don't mind Lleyton doing well enough to make Houston... we need him to keep Pandy down...

Kim is so cute!

All I can say to the Spaniards is WATCH OUT! Everything is against them for the final... even moreso than it was for SUI in the Semis. ;)
