Yay, Rebecca. There needs to be an :envious: smiley so I can use that. I'm always jealous when people get to go to the tourneys I can only see on teevee. :)

We may get a peek at Court 1 tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. I hope Juan Carlos can defeat Thomas Enqvist--I want to see him this week!

Well I'm home for good now :p

I will just write my Ferrero reports in here I guess..

First Round -

I sat through an entire set of an absolutlely pitiful effort by Costa (who was spanked by Spadea) in order to get right behind his change over chair, because I'm a pig.

I wasn't in as much awe as I was when i firt saw him live last year, but I was still in some ;) I took about 20 pics during that match btw  and I limited myself to 10 the next  I will scan in the best ones and post them in a few weeks time.

Anyhow that match was a real nailbiter. I think it was the first set that Ferrero was up a break, then lost it? But won the breaker anyhow. Then the second set he was down a break, I think, but broke back and lost the breaker.
he was down a break in the 3rd really early on, but broke back right away..

Thomas had a match point on ferrero's serve at 4-5, but Ferrero held and then broke...

They both threw away a lot of chances, and made errors at times they couldn't afford to make them - Ferrero was realyl really lucky to pull that match out.

Thomas hits harder off the ground then Ferrero does, he serves better, he just doesn't move as well,a nd he isn't as consistent - I think that Thomas made more errors. If Enqvist hadn't made that many errors, Ferrero would have lost.

Ferrero is actualyl a lot mroe animated on court then he seems to be onTV. He argues with the ref, rolls his eyes and bitches about line calls, smashes his racquet off the net :p, and seemed to be playing hackey sack with the tennis ball before serving  He sort of bouncedit up with his foot, then his knee, then rolled it over his shoulder onto his head, then off the other shoulder  If nothing else it was really cute :p

The crowd favoured Ferrero SO much that I felt bad for Thomas ;) I was shocked sort of as i thought Thomas would get a lot more support then he did.

I didn't get an autograph, because I got one last year - which is good cause I wouldn't have lasted in the hoard of people waiting for him. Such a change from last year, when few people showed up for his third round match - the court was packed for round one.

Round Two-

Even though he beat Ferrero, and is about as exciting and flashy as a cement block, I like Koubek. He's quick, he fights out for every point - he doesn't seem to have one big weapon, but everthing is solid.

He was too consistent off the ground for Ferrero. Ferrero made way to many errors, he just wasn't with it. Koubek wasnt having the best match of his life or anything, he was just solid, and that was enough to beat Ferrero that day.

Ferrero has a damn good serve sometimes though, its underrated. His serve is thee only thing that kept him in that second set. He won a whole game where he didnt' have to hit ball after the serve. Then the next time he served he maybe hit one ball.

He looked a little down of course, but not crushed or anything. I wasn't even that upset beleive it or not  I even cheered for Koubek today.

oh and I should add - he's soooooooooooo beautiful

I mean I think he's good looking anyways, but in person, when he's coming on court and his hair is all neatened up, and he's just so *sigh*

I'm sorry I no longer have any intelligent though going through my head .....

LOL! wow, i'm so jealous! his 1st round match must have been so exciting, i was on the edge of my seat just looking at the numbers change on my computer screen!lol! i couldn't believe how many momentum shifts there were, and then how Juanqui saved a match point! that was impressive!

but you weren't crushed about Ferrero losing to Koubek? i was a basket case (i practically used up a whole box of Kleenex in one night!) and Layla was upset so she got drunk!lol!

anyway, i can't wait to see your pics!

did you see the Haas/Sampras match tonite? that was the best match! i would have killed to be there live!

I know Juanqui is so cute in real life... sorry to intrude, as I was the evil one who wanted his autograph :p
Becca I didn't see you at all during the first round match  I was scouting for the "HEAD" cap, with no luck though :(

OMG, I gotta see Juanqui in person, I don't care what it takes. Why doesn't he play in Umag????? I'm gonna get Moya to convince him how great that tourney is.

Rebecca, thanks for the reports. The image of Juanqui playing hackey sack is now permanently lodged in my brain. ;) I know what you mean about Koubek, I kinda like him too. He endeared himself to me in his A0 match against Novak. He tried so hard, threw himself after every ball and gave more than he got. But still, I can't believe Ferrero lost to him!!! I figured he had an attack of unforced errors again.

So I'm the only one who hates Younes now? Oh well... :fiery: @ Younes :p
