Re: Alexander Zverev

I would have preferred playing an ATP-Event to prepare for the Australian Open.

Re: Alexander Zverev

So since his season is over a short summary:

He beat
#100 Ilhan 6-3 3-6 6-1 in Marseille
#93 Nieminen 6-4 6-4 in Halle
#90 Struff 6-3 7-6 in Heilbronn
#73 Dolgopolov 2-6 6-2 6-4 in Washington
#70 Souza 6-3 7-5 in Miami
#70 Istomin 6-2 3-6 6-3 in Cincinnati
#69 Groth 7-5 6-7 6-4 in Miami
#64 Becker 6-4 6-2 in Cincinnati
#58 Kukushkin 6-0 6-2 in Nottingham
#53 Gabashvili 6-3 1-6 6-3 3-6 9-7 in Wimbledon
#51 Janowicz 6-2 7-6 in Irving
#43 Becker 4-6 6-1 6-2 in Munich
#42 Bellucci 6-7 6-3 6-4 in Nottingham
#41 Bellucci 5-7 6-4 6-2 in Bastad
#27 Monaco 6-4 6-2 in Bastad
#14 Anderson 2-6 6-3 6-4 in Washington

Struggled at the beginning of the year, had some good results in Irving and Miami - but yeah it was mostly struggling.
Then he decided to play some challengers in May, and it really helped his flow (Aix, Heilbronn). Had a good grass season, then some extradordinary results in Bastad and Washington. And that was bascially it. When he lost to Borna in Cincy his season was pretty much over. He still qualified for the USO, had a great match against Kohli, but... well yeah.

Definitely made progress from the 2014 season, but 2015 was not his breakout season - as he's still only 18 this is totally understandable. Yet we're all waiting for a bit more consistency, I guess.

I like him as a person and player. I like the progress he made. I like his ability to serve big, stay in rallies, and play aggressive when it matters. What I don't like though, and what I'm a bit concerned about is - well, is he actually a "summer player"? Is there such a thing? It seems like he's really only playing consistently well between May and August. And that's definitely not enough.

That being said, I'm totally looking forward to 2016 and what it holds for him.

Re: Alexander Zverev

Nothing but respect for Sascha, it seems he's enjoying holidays in a lost island in good company: Belinda Bencic and Kiki Mladenovic. Nothing more to say, he's an absolute idol. Best possible off-season

Now he really hit rock bottom: getting straight setted by Michi...
Has Sascha ever won a match outside of summer?

It was definitely a very good year for him but I'm ready for a break/to move on/2016.
