True that he is earning alot from this but he could earn more if he wanted playing somewhere in Abu Dhabi

he always wanted to play some tennis down in South America

It's a probably a good idea after the fiasco this year's final was, or rather how it was guaranteed to be a routine three setter as soon as Federer emerged the winner of his epic semifinal.

Well he may get his way there - new ITF plans to have third set breakers and no bronze medal matches at Rio 2016.

he doesn't need money

he'll retire with more slams than dull, obviously

What He has enough money for 100 lifetimes. And as he said himself, he has left so much on the table by denying exho's and so on, it's mindblowing. He keeps playing because he loves tennis, pure and simple.

Btw, of course he wants to play Rio right now but before long he will start falling in the rankings due to decline - and then he will probably hang up his racquet. He does love the sport dearly but he is also fairly proud, plus he has a family now. It's surely not long before he will get tired of life on the tour and settle down in his country.

On a personal note, I'm not sure I even as a fan would want him to play until he's 35. It hurts to see him decline already, but he is still able to play at JesusFed level a few times a year. Soon he won't even be able to do that.

He lost.

Also there is now a Roger Federer youtube channel. It will be livestreaming all the exhibitions Roger plays in Brasil. And you can watch the matches after they've finished. I'm, watching the match against bellucci right now.

Just a shame he didn't seem to have enough left in the tank to put up a real fight against Murray, who I thought was playing the tennis of his life that week: we could have had a really good match instead of the one-sided one we did get.

One of the many:

Re: Roger: "I want to play in Rio 2016"

It could happen but don't be surprised if it doesn't. It's clear that Federer doesn't want to upset his millions of fans, and as a well oiled PR machine, anything he does say will give his fans hope for the future, be it the near future or the distant future. I have no doubt he wants that singles gold, considering his BIGGEST rival Nadal has one himself, as well as one of his biggest rivals Murray. Of course Fed can overlook Murray, but given the fact Nadal still has a chance, be it small, to overtake Fed's slam record, Fed wants the gold to remain GOAT. All I can say is we will see.
