Won't be able to watch him take on the Bot tomorrow. I'm rather relieved about that.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

I was thinking the same re: Sousa, since he's played Murray very tough in the last few meetings. But it is Paire, and I won't be able to forgive Andy if he manages to lose to that idiot.

Wouldn't fancy a win over Raonic, but then the bot has won just 61% of serve points today as it stands, well into set 3. I know Cuevas is good on clay, but even so..

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

Not getting absolutely hammered by Berdych/Botnic would be considered a good tournament with him in his current form.

Decent chance for Sousa to score his first win over him here though imo.

Didn't realize he was playing Monte Carlo. Don't have great expectations.. not sure what would be considered a good tournament. I suppose reaching the QF and not looking unfit would be a start. Quite alarming just how quickly his fitness seems to have gone to crap.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

Even the Ferrer match was somewhat tainted by him going to sleep at the start of the second set.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

Has there been any news at all regarding his schedule? He's not seriously gonna play just six matches from the start of February through to May is he?

Has he played a single genuinely good match in 2016? I didn't see all of the Ferrer match, but that looked like maybe the closest thing to a good one.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

Since the birth of his daughter he has looked very slow around the court, and his FH has become an absolute joke. Difficult to imagine him having any success on clay if that form holds.

Actually after winning Montreal, he looks awful. Barely played a good match.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

My feeling is that he'll have a vastly inferior clay season to 2015 (obviously hope I'm wrong).

I've regarded #2 as important because if he's facing Djokovic in the SF then there's very little chance of winning the slam, because he'd be so exhausted in the final even if he won. But it seems a moot point now anyway...

I don't think we can seriously be sticking the fork in him just a couple of months after being in a slam final, but his game has gone to shit, and there's just a strong feeling that this could be where it all unravels - and clearly quite a few of us are getting it.

Just knowing what Andy is like, I do think the birth of Sophia will compromise his commitment. Could argue that it's already shown, because he appears to have slipped into really lousy shape. Maybe he'll adapt to fatherhood and find a way to balance everything, but I'm not optimistic. Kinda annoying that he's fallen apart right after seemingly securing #2. Doubt it's all that secure after these last two events.
My twopenceworth is that no one should really care about where he's ranked now unless it's #1. Indeed, I'd rather him face Djokovic in SFs as not to worsen his GS final record.

TBH he only made AO final anyway due to Raonic's injury. Didn't play great there, result in the final was expected.

The best way to describe his game lately is, post-back surgery, declined on hard, declined on grass, enhanced on clay. I'm not sure he will have success on the first two in the future but I could see him snatching a clay MS or something, maybe even get to an RG final if things fell into place.

Re: M.Muzza.M Chat

I always dread IW, but he was surprisingly decent last year. Not great by any means, but played okay. Horror show in the SF, but then he usually bombs out earlier than that.

It does always seem to end with a horror show though. That gross Raonic match, the Del Potro match where he couldn't keep the ball in court, and I think the year before that was Young or Garcia-Lopez... lol

Kind of dreading IW though.... he can lose to virtually anyone on those courts I think, especially if the break is a factor .

Hoping for another good showing at Miami mainly.
