Ferrer would never get bageled by Slumpdal so it's him.

I think it's about time Tsonga wins this poll.

What are you on about ? Tsonga is one of the most classy losers among active players. Look at some handshakes : Federer at WTF 2011 and AO 2013, Murray at Wimbledon 2012, Wawrinka at Madrid 2013, etc.

Jo will have won a slam by then, so the argument will be invalid haha!

At 29 yo, Ferrer's record was surely far worse than Tsonga's.

Don't talk me about Nadal having a better W-L record than Federer, because it's not like Ferrer has 3 extra Slams and 6 extra WTF over Tsonga.

Tsonga's more talented, Ferrer's more consistent. Ferrer's better.

And then we do that for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012... and onwards. On that day, that's when Tsonga plays unbelievably well. Otherwise? Some flashes here and there, but face it: Tsonga never had the potential to threaten greatness.

He was a flash in the pan, through and through. Why do you talk about who is overrated by the forums? That's clearly Tsonga. Because his game is flashy and big (when on), he seems like a chill person, and there are absolutely no subtleties to his game. Ferrer on the other hand is widely viewed not as a slam contender, but as a great player who doesn't think he belongs at the top.

From the locker rooms, players know Jo as a bad loser. Now why is that? It's because of his inflated ego, fueled by his eons of fans who tell him the same thing. They tell him that he is too great not to win a major. Tsonga is a ponzi scheme. Every player and every fan gives him a slice of the pie, and for what? Tsonga was always hot, cold, hot, cold, hot, and motherfucking cold. Tsonga has huge weaknesses in his backhand, and ROS. His defensive skills aren't very good either. When he's hot, those weaknesses are temporarily hidden. When cold, it looks like Tsonga never tried to begin with. That's why everyone is still in denial about what happened in RG in 2013. David crushed him thoroughly, exploiting those weaknesses and drawing error after error, while hitting many winners himself. David humiliated Tsonga thoroughly, and fairly.

Now am I saying that David is greater than Tsonga? No - the stats indicate otherwise. What I do say is that while Tsonga gets hot, he only ever had the potential to win one slam. Forget multi-slams. He is overrated because of his offensive weapons and personality. Another overrated player is Berdych - once again the fans are blinded by offensive weapons. Berdych doesn't have enough weapons to win slams, because he can't change direction on the ball when pulled wide, he's too slow, defense sucks, etc.

As for the answer to the topic, it depends what you mean by "better". At their peaks, David would easily have positive H2Hs against Tsonga in 3/4 slams. Tsonga is more accomplished than Ferrer. Both are great players and both never had the potential to be all-time greats.

Re: Who's Better - Tsonga or Ferrer?

Tsonga's additional Masters Title and the higher W-L-percentage give him a slight edge.

I'm a hater not a fan of either player so that makes me objective and a two-hundred-sixty-five-stage thinker.

I'll be the first to admit that Tsonga has the game to >> Ferrer, but helas we live in reality and in THIS reality Tsonga did not prove it.

Just like in THIS reality 17 is still a larger number than 14 and there is nothing anybody can say or do to change that..
A poll was made on MTF in 2012, with Berdych easily leading.

Btw Tsonga did prove he's better than Ferrer, by achieving more than him.

MTF logic :
Ferrer > Tsonga
Tsonga > Berdych
Berdych > Ferrer

What's the damn difference between Tsonga and Berdych exactly? Both are way better tennis players than Ferrer.

MTF logic :
Ferrer > Tsonga
Tsonga > Berdych
Berdych > Ferrer

There's an explaination though. Back in May 2012, Berdych was in great form, Ferrer in a decent one and Jo in a bad one. On MTF, some people can't remember further back the last tournament, so I guess that's the reason.

Look, I´d say Tsonga is better too. But it´s by a slim margin and it´s ridiculous to claim Tsonga is far superior and has better achievements.

Of all active players something like this:

Federer >> Nadal >>>> Djokovic >>>>>>>> Murray, Hewitt >>> del Potro, Soderling > Tsonga, Ferrer, Wawrinka > Cilic > Berdych, Haas
I'd say :
Federer
Nadal
Djokovic
Murray
Hewitt
del Potro
Tsonga
Soderling
Berdych/Ferrer
Wawrinka
Haas
Cilic

Then, Ferrer's Slam SFs are overrated, look at his USO 2012, AO 2013 and RG 2013 draws for example. On the other hand, Tsonga's only lucky SF is Wimbledon 2012. To reach his Slam final, Ferrer only beat one top 20, while Tsonga had beaten 3 top 10 (including Nadal).

As for titles, Ferrer never beat a top 5 on his way to win it, while Tsonga did it so 4 times.
