Brad1973 Polanski defeated India's top player at Roland Garros. In other news, India's second player lost badly in the first round of qualifying.

Re: Davis Cup

TC have been a bit slow in announcing, other ties have already been finalized.

Re: Davis Cup

Maybe a bit surprised they still have not announced where it will be yet, I thought they wanted to get on tickets and everything.

If they play out west the weather should not be an issue. An indoor hard tie would be better than an outdoor one I think.

Re: Davis Cup

Great draw! India is tough obviously in doubles, but on paper this was one of the better ties.

Re: Davis Cup

Great draw getting India and playing at home, so they should be back in the WG next year, it's pretty amazing their run in WG playoffs the last few years starting with Israel never getting drawn against someone who could cause them a lot of trouble, but India still can pull an upset since they like to play on hard and I'm assuming the tie will be on hard, if it's Milos and Vasek playing singles, Vasek could potentially lose his singles matches, though he has proven himself in DC play, so if he does lose his matches the tie could come down to the doubles.

Re: Davis Cup

All I gotta say is Canada better not draw Kazakhstan esp, tomorrow, then Portugal, the Dutch and Brazil could be a problem, better draw one of the others, they are barely seeded, could do with a R1 win next your to avoid being unseeded in the future.

Re: Davis Cup

Shapovalov should have never been put in that position - very poor by Laurendeau. Of course a 17 year old is going to be affected by the immense pressure.

Re: Davis Cup

Canada falls 3-2 to Great Britain. I'm tempted to say it was a pretty good effort overall, having pushed a team with two top fifty singles players and a top ten doubles player to a decisive fifth match. Shapovalov's performance tarnished the team. Best of luck in the relegation round.

Re: Davis Cup

Well, it looks like Pospisil was the right choice after all. He almost pulled off the triple. Laurendeau goes with Shapovalov for the fifth match. I'm surprised there wasn't more talk of putting Polansky instead. Edmund was pretty weak on Friday. Polansky would have made Edmund play.

Wouldn't surprise me if Polansky plays a 5th match if its live.

Interesting. I'm going to assume Polansky will see action on Sunday, either in a dead rubber or to replace Pospisil, or the turn to him to win the deciding rubber if Shapovalov loses on Friday.
Sorry to say, but this looks like a clean sweep for the Brits, maybe they win the doubles, but that's it, even the the Brits are favored IMO, just not as much as singles.
