Re: Canadian Players 2

Sigouin had a tough loss against Gonzalez today in Toronto qualifier. From the first ball, he was definitely the aggressor, and he kept that up for most of the match. He broke Gonzalez in the 3rd game, and carried that through to 5-4 in the 1st set. In that final game while serving for the set, he was up 15-0 and hit what would probably have been a winner against his normal competition === but this is the pros. Gonzalez not only got to the ball, but hit a passing winner down the line. And that was a portent for the break to come, and then a relatively easy win for Gonzalez in the TB. Second set, Sigouin got broken early, and never seemed to threaten Gonzalez serve.

Still, I was impressed. Probably doesn't have the upside of his 2 Davis Cup buddies, but could we actually have 3 good pros from this current junior crop? Oh, and he seemed to hit a lot of drop shots. Some of them really good. (A bunch of others not so much, and probably ill advised, but it was fun to watch).

Re: Canadian Players 2

That's actually the list I had in my head if they all went to Canadians, except I forgot about Schnur for qualies and gave one to Peliwo instead. But now remembering Schnur him getting one is better than Peliwo. I half expect the Q list to get down to Bester(maybe furthur) and they have to give his WC to someone else anyway.

There's an argument Bester v. Diez given Diez is better on clay, but I like rewarding Diez for his solid year.

Right decision on WC's I think. Happy to see Diez get one.

And now into the QF with a 13-11 win in the third! Actually served for it at 10-9 but was broken. 3 Canadians into the QF.

Emeraldhands In other Canadian news (light week), Dancevic and Beran are into the QFs of their respective tournaments. Beran has managed to get points in each of last three tournaments and made QFS twice.

Very tough draw for Shapovalov. Not only does he get the #1 seed in the QFs, but in R3, he gets the 9 seed, a player who he beat 76 in the third set of one of his futures finals.

Filip quit tennis and is studying Business at Schulich University. Brayden is a Top NCAA player at North Carolina, he won the NCAA Singles Championship in 2014. Hugo plays at Ohio State. Sam plays number 1 singles and doubles for Indiana.

Edward Nguyen never had a game that could translate into adult tennis, and was constantly injured so I don't really know what happened to him.

Schnur will have a good pro career after College, definitely Top 100.

Martin Beran seems to be having a decent run in Bulgaria, I remember someone on here a while ago saying this guy might have good potential.

Emeraldhands Ugh another tight loss in final qualies. He would have gotten a wc to boot. Tough loss
