Israeli hospital doctors say they will force-feed shackled Palestinian hunger strikers

The hunger strike — the longest in Palestinian history, according to Addameer — was launched on 24 April by 120 Palestinians arbitrarily held by Israel without charge or trial, a widely condemned practice known as administrative detention. According to Reuters, the number of prisoners participating in the hunger strike has risen to approximately three hundred.

Hospitalized prisoners told Addameer’s lawyers that the doctors threatened to “introduce food to the body through the nose into the stomach without taking consent, after shackling [them].”

The Israel situation is a complicated one

On the one hand you have Israeli settlements on land recognised by the UN as belonging to palestine, there is no justification for this
The occupied territories are in a state of apartheid
This deserves to be criticised

On the other hand, within Israel you have the only shining light in the Middle East
Arabs within Israel are treated much better
There is a truly free press
Women and gays are given real rights, and freedoms

Other middle eastern countries are killing gays, fucking barbaric
Women are human cattle in any sharia law country
Apostasy is met with murder

It's a really backwards stone age mentality that has really stopped the Arab nations from socially evolving for a thousand years

If Israel wasn't treating the Palestinians the way it does I would champion what it has done for women, gays, human rights etc

I'm a liberal, always have been always will be

Probably so, but if that's the reason she should come out in the open as an Israel supporter because of the shared ethnicity between her and Israel, which actually defines itself as a "Jewish State".

Then again, I suppose the idea of ethnicity might be too tribal for her to admit it.

Maybe it has more to do with the fact she is Jewish.

Scarlett Johansson doubles down on support for Israeli settlements

In the Guardian interview, Johansson hits back at Oxfam, claiming, “for a non-governmental organization to be supporting something that’s supporting a political cause … there’s something that feels not right about that to me.”

Only that they feel happy, because they don't know what happy is.

I'm pretty sure there are countries where when one dies at 55 they go at the funeral "well, he had a good long life", coz the expectancy is 50...

Do we prefer to have these people blind and uneducated, coz they feel happy about it?

Wouldn't they be unhappy to understand it's all been BS and noone has told them the crap they eat, or the way they live is just killing them and they could have had a longer, better life with just a bit of education?

Normally occidentals would let them be uneducated and happy the way they are, coz it's also much easier to control them, take advantage of their natural resources (here chief, i give you this box of magic fire sticks, you give me 10 horses and you're making a deal...) and they don't bother the World much, but usually there is a bunch of "smart" one who by the force of explaining their own uneducated people that they are the power, they are invincible and they can make shit happen, at one point they start believe in themselves and start doing shit around their yard, which is the main problem for the rest.

And it's what inevitably happens. Always.

So uneducated people create greedy and delusional leaders who'd start wars and try to invade, or make big scale massacres, which is smth to prevent.

And that's what happens.

If those people under them were educated, there won't be greedy multinationals that get their resources after liberating them, coz the locals would have their own companies to do that and wouldn't need liberation.

That's what will be in 200 years, but it's a long way to go. Too many brainless radicals to support their own misery..

Many times I have seen how people who live in what westerners would describe as poor conditions think of themselves as happy persons. It ain't black and white.
There is a bit of truth in that, but a very little bit. I was always amazed at how Haitians could be smiling in such utter poverty. But although they had been conditioned to accept their lot and made the best of it, I am fairly certain that they all recognized there was something better, just not available to them.
I guess that life in Haiti was so miserable that the government did not even try to convince them that they were living the dream.
The Cuban government on the other hand..................ok, let's not go there.
