Re: KIWI at Next Generation Hardcourts (Adelaide)

Unhappy with a line call late in the match, Kiefer dropped his serve at 5-6 in the third set and asked for a lineswoman to be removed. He angrily returned to the court after the change of ends for a tense final game, but was out-rallied by the Belgian and overhit a forehand on the last point.

Yes, Kiefer has withdrewn form doubles and Sydney, but he has no serious problem.

He is probably tired after his singles match, doesn't surprised me that he withdrew. Plus, many players (if they are mainly singles players) who lose in singles typically never finish out their doubles matches in small tournaments, or it seems to me.

Also, his body was fatigued and that makes the body more prone to injury. Why risk an injury playing doubles with a slam starting in a week?

noooooooooooooo Kiwi
must have been a good match of Rochus as well, sometimes he has these days when he can beat many many players with his fighting spirit and at the end it was just too much.

This match could have gone easily to three tie-breaks and at the end it was a little bit too much for him...

Okay, but he got a good practise with this match. 2 won matches and a demanding quarterfinal should be good enough for the start of the season

WTF I think not enough to call it a successful tournament. I hope he had at least no match points in the 2nd and 3rd set. And many aces!

Olivier Rochus (BEL) def (3) Nicolas Kiefer (GER) 6-7(4) 7-6(6) 7-5

I hate that I cry when he loses..... Blah. He fought so hard in this one too.... It was about 3 1/2 hours long...

We still have doubles......
