Re: Robby on the grass courts - 2010

Sorry I haven't been able to get in here much, but my MSNTV2 has really been acting up lately. And there isn't money available right now to get a computer And speaking of I couldn't believe it when I saw Robby draw at Wimbledon. That is what happens with Robby's low ranking. Even if he makes it into a Tournament he ends up playing the Top Ranked players and then ends up with another 1st Rd loss Robby can't get on a roll in a Tournament when his 1st Rd is against the #6 Ranked player in the world

Re: Robby on the grass courts - 2010

Robby's match is on Center Court tomorrow as the third/last match on that court. Robby has a better record playing before 5pm, but whatever... he just needs to be on top of his game.

yes, it will be really difficult to beat Robin tomorrow. Both of them will be coming into the match with confidence but for different reasons. Ultimately, Robby has to prove that he's a better player than his ranking indicates, and he needs to overcome any doubts that he may feel in moments of weakness.

Robby can win , but it's going to be difficult , if he returns well he can make it at least to a 5-setter.

C'mon Robby!

Re: Robby on the grass courts - 2010

Robby drew Robin Soderling in the first round... I'm really tired of Robby losing in the first round at Wimbledon. I hope he fights like never before to get to the 2nd round. I feel like he has it in him, as I did in year's past, but he usually faces a confident opponent who serves really well, and makes it really difficult.

Good luck to Robby!

I totally forgot about him possibly playing there! Yay that he won!

Here is a quote from the Boodles website:

"In the first match of the day, the confident American Robby Ginepri was on top form against Evgeny Korolev of Kazakhstan, winning 6-4, 6-1 in a fine display of grass court tennis. The former world number 15 showed touches of brilliance as he looked to fine tune his game ahead of Wimbledon next week and proved a troublesome opponent for the talented youngster Korolev."

Idolwatcher1 it is so nice to have you back here And I guess Robby can't feel too bad to have lost to the winner of the Tournament. I have to admit I wish Robby would get more comfortable with his game on all court surfaces And also I wish he would stay injury free

Re: Robby on the grass courts - 2010

Sam played so well, in fact, that he won the tournament!... Congrats to Sam. Like I said before, Sam's serving against Robby was quite amazing... Not only did Sam never match those stats again, no one else in the tournament even came close to matching his serving percentage stats against Robby either.

There's only a few things for Robby to take away from his loss to Sam. He should keep his service games strong, so he doesn't face any break points, and when he faces a strong server on grass, he should take even more chances to attack whenever possible, and make his opponent a little more cautious or on edge, so that they don't feel so comfortable out there and make their own mistakes more easily.

It looks like Robby will not be playing anywhere else before Wimbledon, but he does have direct entry now, so he will probably just be practicing the whole time. I really want Robby to get comfortable with his game on grass before Wimby!

That is exactly what I'm hoping for as well I would love for Robby to get on a roll during the hardcourt season that he got on back in that U.S. Open some years ago now. It's awful, but now I can't even remember what year that was? It seems like a lifetime ago And idolwatcher1 I do hope you will stay around because I have so missed your comments on Robby and his Matches

Me too. Of all the losses Robby's had the past two years, this is one of the least to be upset about considering how well his opponent played and how his opponent was a seeded player... Now, if both players were struggling all match, and this was the end result, then it'd be a much different story, but Sam had an incredible 2nd set, which he may never match again. Sam seemed very impressed with himself in the presser afterwards

Re: Robby on the grass courts - 2010

I figured if Sam's serve was working well for him, that it would be tough for Robby to beat him on a grass court, and that's pretty much what happened...

In his match against Robby, Sam had, by far, the highest 1st serve percentage of the entire tournament this week, at 84% for the match, and in the 2nd set, Sam had 95% first serves, which is one of the highest 1st serve percentages I've seen all year The points were relatively short and quick, and Robby just didn't have his best service games in the second set, so once he got broken, it was pretty much over in no time.

Robby shouldn't be too disappointed. Sam played VERY well against him, and although Robby didn't play his best, he did fine in the first set, and just needs to take his chances to attack whenever he plays against a really good server on grass courts. Hopefully, Robby will play someone next who isn't quite as good with their serve

I do also But those wins were on different surfaces. Has Robby ever faced Sam on a grass court? You could just tell Robby had a great game plan against Sam at the French Open. I hope he can find another great game plan against Sam on a grass court I didn't check the dates on these posts again I guess Sam got Robby this time because I see on a scoring site that Sam is playing the X-Man! I probably jinxed Robby when I started this thread
