Andy Murray insists that his exploits of 2012 are just the beginning and he is determined to improve still further in 2013.

The last 12 months have proven to be a breakthrough year for the 25-year-old, having recovered from the pain of defeat in the Wimbledon final – his fourth Grand Slam final defeat – to glory of gold at the London Olympics and then victory at the US Open.

Defending champion Andy Murray was pleased with his service game after he booked his place in the Brisbane International semi-finals with a 6-4 7-6 (7-3) victory over Denis Istomin.

The top seed reached the last eight by edging past Australian qualifier John Millman on Thursday as his unconvincing start to the 2013 season continued. Tsonga injury scare ahead of Australian Open

Jo-Wilfred Tsonga’s hopes of claiming a maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open this January have suffered a big blow after the Frenchman limped off court during his Hopman Cup exploits with a hamstring injury.
