Look at the first round of the Women's French Open

Posted 05-23-2011 at 11:23 AM by Philip Oliver
The 2011 women's French Open is as wide-open as any slam has been in recent times. No fewer than seven players are currently on offer at less than the 18 that Roger Federer is trading at to win the men's version. This plethora of potential winners makes for some exciting betting, not least in the opening round, where there is plenty of value to be found.

26th seed Nadia Petrova is pitted against her doubles opponent Anastasia Rodionova. The Russian will be a strong favourite to progress...

Posted 05-20-2011 at 01:30 PM by Philip Oliver

The world number two has now won 39 consecutive matches, 37 coming this year, and is surely closing in on the top ranking. Nadal won both the French Open and Wimbledon last year and as amazing as it seems, he appears unlikely to defend...

Big names could miss French Open

Posted 05-10-2011 at 03:39 PM by Philip Oliver
It is looking unlikely that former French Open finalist Venus Williams will be competing at Roland Garros in a few weeks time after her latest tournament withdrawal.

The 30-year-old, a seven-time Major winner, has pulled out of next week's Brussels Open as she is still recovering from an abdominal problem.

Williams suffered the injury at the Australian Open back in January and the long injury lay-off means she has been unable to prepare for the event and those looking...
