Del Potro back on track

Live tennis:

Juan Martin Del Potro looked back to his destructive best as he clinched his 10th career title and first ever indoor title with a 6-4 6-4 victory against Michael Llodra in the final of the Marseille Open.

The number four seed produced a dominant service display throughout the final, conceding just 13 points to his opponent and firing 11 aces on his way to victory, which was achieved in just over 80 minutes against the 2010 champion Llodra.

After lifting his maiden indoor title Del Porto was delighted to have finally seen success on a surface he has often struggled to adapt to.

"It is a really nice moment. I'm really glad to win this tournament.”

"I am proud to win this title because at this moment it's very important for me and for my season."

The 2009 US Open champion has been battling his way back to the top of the sport since a career-threatening wrist problem. The Argentinean had reached as high as fourth in the rankings, only to drop right out of the top-20 following such a long spell of inactivity.

Following an impressive few months, the big-hitting 23-year old has climbed back up to 10th in the world rankings. That position looks likely to be improved over the next few months if he can maintain this sort of form.

With the French Open and Wimbledon coming up over the next few months, Del Potro will have the chance to get himself right back into the big time. A decent Australian Open campaign saw the big South American reach the quarter-finals and he’ll be looking to improve on that going into the rest of the year’s Grand Slams - something that will interest those looking at tennis betting offers.
