And again, being nostalgic, I recall a story that I like to tell. (People, I am really getting old )

My brother-in-law finally had his PhD and his wife was dued to give birth to their first child. So we flew from Calgary to Boston. We had the perfect plan with the plane left around midnight and would arrive at about 6am in Toronto and caught the flight to Boston at about 7am. We could sleep about 4 hours from Calgary to Toronto which should be enough for us. (We were still...

Christmas 2008, A HELL of a trip

Posted 12-28-2008 at 08:22 AM by Lee
Dec 26, 2008

We knew the weather will be bad but we had booked tickets and paid for a tour inside the caves there more than a month ago, so we went ahead. Unfortunately, the weather forecast was OFF! After we past Tucson, it started to snow. Since we moved to US, we haven’t driven in snow so it’s a bit scary. At least even it’s blowing snow, the visibility was not too bad and by the time we arrived the Kartchner Caverns State Park, there’s a sunny break. Still, the wind was blowing...

Home Sweet Home

Posted 11-12-2008 at 07:16 AM by Lee
Finally, the day on my way home! After morning dim sum, my sister left for airport as her plane left around 10:30 in the morning while mine was 10:45 at night. Another dim sum lunch with my mother’s aunt and her daughter. She’s actually younger than my mother. Her husband, my mom’s uncle was the youngest of 10 sons while my maternal grandfather was the oldest. And the daughter is born after their other children have grown up. So I have a great uncle whose daughter is about 20 years younger...

The Week in Hong Kong

Posted 11-12-2008 at 07:15 AM by Lee
The next few days were a blur. More dim sum breakfast and lunch with various relatives. Shopping in various big shopping center. Visit a Buddhist temple where memorials were set for many relatives including my father and my paternal grandparents. Unfortunately, the smoke from incense and heat from burning those paper products almost overwhelmed me.

Don’t want to talk too much about the relationships between my mother and my sister. I love them dearly but the tension was BIG....

I love flying Singapore Airline across the Pacific. The services are great and the food is good. Unfortunately, the time sucks. The flight left SFO at 1am (Sunday) and arrived at Hong Kong 6a.m. (Monday) with a 15 time zone changes. My connection flight arrived at SFO before 7pm. Fortunately, an MTFer was kind enough to pick me up from the airport and we went for dinner. By the time I arrived Hong Kong, I awoke for over 30 hours already (I could not really sleep (other than a very short...
