Second Day of USO Qualies - Fri. - Who was that lady?

Posted 08-27-2005 at 09:38 AM by SwissMister1
There is nothing like the sight of a shirtless Dick Norman on the practice courts to greet you as you walk in to the grounds. I also saw a couple of people setting up the "guess how many tennis balls are in the big glass ball" game as I walked in the entranceway. I guess if I had sat there and counted along as they poured balls in, I could have won, but I did not have the patience for that.

They were a bit more strict with security on Fri. There were...

First day at USO qualies - Thursday

Posted 08-27-2005 at 08:22 AM by SwissMister1
This is my report of the first day at USO qualies - I should have pics, and hopefully videos when I get back home.

My trip started by taking the "Chinatown" bus up from Washington on Wednesday night, it was not luxury travel, but not bad for 20 dollars. However, I didn't get to my sister's place until late, so I was pretty tired the next day.

Until I'm at the USO. So of course, that would be a perfect time for the hatch on my trunk to break Now the trunk won't close, and I wound up having to tie it down with cables, it looks terrible...so I guess I'll be taking the bus up to NYC instead of driving.

I had a great time. I have pictures of me with Henman, Grosjean, Bjorkman, Rusedski, and Zib. The only guy that refused to take a picture with me was Popp, he mysteriously pointed to a building and left Greg was such a nice guy, he really changed my opinion of him.

I wound up getting to the tourney site at a little after nine. The place is kinda tucked away in Rock Creek Park, and not the easiest place to find. I drove in and parked in the lot, where you then have to walk...

First Entry - day before Legg Mason

Posted 07-29-2005 at 07:42 PM by SwissMister1
I'm going to put a blog up, so I have somewhere to put my pictures and report from DC, and later this month, the US Open.

I'll be meeting a friend tomorrow morning, bright and early at 8:30 or so, and probably hungover, since I am going to a friend's party in DC tonite. But since I haven't seen live tennis in a year, it will be worth it.

I won't be able to get to a computer tonight, so I will have no idea who will be in the qualies or what the order of play will...
