The Australian Open has got at least one of the men's singles semi final they clamoured for with number two seed Rafael Nadal winning through his quarter final against Tomas Berdych to face his one time nemesis, the third seed, Roger Federer.

The two players, who without doubt are two of the greatest players to have ever adorned the game, will be meeting for the 27th time as professionals but rather dauntingly for Federer, it is Nadal who leads the head to head count with 17 wins...

As 2011 draws to a close and we begin to look back at the last 12 month on the ATP tour, it becomes apparent that a review of the year is more a review about Novak Djokovic, who dominated the tour from the beginning to almost the very end.

The Serb won three Grand Slams, a record breaking five ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, plus a couple of ATP 500 events. He won an incredible 70 singles matches with only six losses and ends the year the clear number one player in the world.

Rafael Nadal justified that air of invincibility he took into the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 last week, by claiming his seventh title from seven attempts at the prestigious venue.
