Spain have appointed Alex Corretja as their new Davis Cup captain following Albert Costa’s decision to step down from the role.

Former world number-one Leyton Hewitt has rubbished reports that he could soon be forced to hang up his racket and retire. The Aussie star has struggled with a series of injuries over recent years, so much so, that many have expected the former US Open and Wimbledon champion to quit the game ahead of the 2012 season.

Ten-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal has revealed he will take a few weeks off after the upcoming Australian Open, with the Spaniard still struggling to shake off his shoulder problem.
