The Australian Open has got at least one of the men's singles semi final they clamoured for with number two seed Rafael Nadal winning through his quarter final against Tomas Berdych to face his one time nemesis, the third seed, Roger Federer.

The two players, who without doubt are two of the greatest players to have ever adorned the game, will be meeting for the 27th time as professionals but rather dauntingly for Federer, it is Nadal who leads the head to head count with 17 wins...

The ongoing 100th edition of the Australian Open got underway on the 16th of January 2012. Half of the players that remain in the competition are battling it out in the third round, with the other half making their way into the fourth round of the tournament.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic secured his place in the Australian Open quarter-finals after battling to a four-set victory against home favourite Lleyton Hewitt 6-1 6-3 4-6 6-3. The Serb looked on course to wrap up a simple straight sets victory, only for the Aussie to rally and get back into the match in the third set, which is the first set Djokovic has conceded in his campaign so far, the first live tennis grand slam of the year.

Andy Murray admitted he enjoyed his straight-sets third-round win over Michael Llodra as the British number one continues to improve at the Australian Open.
