Home favourite in the bet365 odds, Leyton Hewitt, goes into the Australian Open next week on the back of a victory in the Brisbane International at the weekend.

The former world number one was able to beat heavy favourite Roger Federer in the final 6-1 4-6 6-3. That was his first title since 2010 as he begins the new season in good form.

Hewitt was able to break Federer on three occasions in the opening set as he went into a 1-0 led.

Serena Williams kicked off the new season in the same form she ended the last one, taking her winning streak to 22 matches on the way to the Brisbane International title. Serena collected her first title of 2014 after seeing off world number two Victoria Azarenka 6-4 7-5, ending the Belarusian’s own 24-match winning run.

Radwanska’s last tournament win came at the KDB Korea Open back in September but her form dipped following that victory and she was knocked out of the WTA Tour Championships at the round robin stage.

Following that disappointment it was clear that Radwanska’s...

Roger Federer showed that any talk of retirement is premature after warming up for the Australian Open by demolishing Marinko Matosevic at the Brisbane International.

The 17-time Grand Slam winner cruised to a 6-1 6-1 victory in less than an hour despite the extremely hot weather - the temperature reached 37 degrees at one stage

Federer has been in excellent form in Brisbane after a six-week break and produced nine aces against Matosevic, winning 84 per cent of his...

Maria Sharapova has revealed she will work with Dutchman, Sven Groeneveld, as her new head coach ahead of the new season. The world number four has been without a full-time trainer since her split from long-time coach Thomas Hogstedt following her second round exit at Wimbledon, briefly working with Jimmy Connors before parting ways with the American.

After a disappointing second half of the season, Sharapova has been working with Groeneveld in recent weeks and has been left feeling...
